I noticed that there weren't any footstep sounds in the Monk demo and this is something I wanted to hear throughout the video. Not only did the Monk and team mates did not have the foot step sounds, but the enemies as well. It's an important sound that you hear when you're going through each different terrain and how close other enemies and hostile players as well. They should bring it back but not to make it as loud as Diablo 2's footstep sound.

These are the kinds of details that seem so pointless to discuss. Not because the sound of footsteps aren't something to consider, but just because it seems another thing among tons of things that will all be put in there eventually.
I also noticed that the enemies have no footsteps. Too cluttered sound mix? Most likely.
But yah maybe because most of the demos of him were in sand ridden desert areas? I know, i know there was that underground place with rock floors too. So yeah maybe they forgot to add his footstep sounds in, or don't have it yet.
On the other demos you have to pin the volume to hear the hero's footsteps, its super quiet.

True. But there is nothing else to talk about.
The sound volume of the steps doesn't have to be loud. It can just be subtle so you know it's there. The silence annoys me too!

its possible to be forgotten, i mean, its so cosmetic that it might be left out. in one of the COD games, the "ding" noise for headshots was forgotten and had to be put in a patch..

"Not Even Death Can Save You From Me" ~ Diablo (II)
I know I will be straying from the topic a bit but umm... Why the hell would a headshot sound like a bullet hitting metal? Shouldn't it sound like a wet, fleshy explosion?

Don't any of them wear helmets? And this is also an example of when there should be the noise of footsteps and when there shouldn't, and what kinds of sounds they do make if implemented. Similarly to whether you headsshot someone with a helmet or not.
Would you actually hear footsteps at the distance the camera is at? Cause that is like 10 meters or something.
If everything is made to sound like it's in a distance then the player will feel just that, distanced from the game. I think Blizzard, like many other developers, want you to feel like you're right there in the game as much as possible.
And for those that are going to take me seriously here (yeah, can you believe there are people that don't see a joke when it stabs them in the eye), you better believe I'm serious!
