But I disagree with the idea. Why should people with D2 get an advantage? Possibly cosmetic bonuses but not power advantages. It would just fuck up the ladder if people with D2 got an early game advantage.
I translate this idea into: Pay for more Power
The amount of power given to players with D2/D1 already installed wouldn't make a difference for people playing ladder. We're talking about something very minimal, like the previously mentioned rejuvenation potion.
2 battle chests and a few friends that stopped playing i got their cds. but thank tyreal u can do that thing on battle.net and jus d/l if u have registered.
I think the bonus for players of D1&2 should just be some of the NPCs and places referenced by a few D3 NPCs. Nothing that requires having the older games installed, just references that new players would probably shurg off.
Too many people have uninstalled d2 from long ago.
I don't want be forced to reinstall it for having a bonus... I don't play it anyways, it will take place on my computer for nothing...
D3 is a game by itself, so not depending from another...
Oh I have an idea in the same way... Why not to be able to import our characters from d2... (for my, the possibility to having bonus is the same to import d2 character)
no one would really know there was a bonus, it would be sorta like an easter egg :D. and i agree with you, pre-order exclusive content is a real buzz kill, but im thinking this would have no affect on gameplay, for example my first idea (later added onto by whats-his-name) where warriv is there to welcome you
they could put these references in for everyone
probably would only those people who played the first games actually understand these references anyways
Yup, that's exactly what I meant. Rather than bonuses at the start, just throw in some references that people will enjoy if they played the older games(although the references should still make some sense to new players even if they don't get the backstory of them). Naming some uniques/sets after former NPCs could work too.
the problem with that is that only the barb met warriv before... and for D1 players, well, all died in tristram so i don't think we coul see any of them again, except for the witch YAY!!!!...
That's because she's obviously no longer a rogue... Just couldn't let the bow go though...That's how she got tracked...
Has to live with her time after escaping Tristram and diablo...
