Dec 11, 2009stoaster posted a message on The Wait is Over -- PTR Patch 1.13The changes were disappointing for me but they were also exactly what I expected.Posted in: News
I was hoping they would add some content(optional bosses, etc) across difficulties instead of limiting them to hell mode. I would have also liked to see the occurrence of hell immunes greatly decreased. Sadly, none of the changes they made seem to have any significant change to single player aside from altering a few builds.

Don't forget, this is just the first Community Spotlight, there will be many more to come. We're looking for this to be a reoccurring feature. If anyone has any ideas for next time, please do voice your opinions.
A small section to list the previous 2 weeks' noteworthy newcomers might be nice. -

Yeah, I'm waiting for the hardcopy as well. I assume there will be a much better selection of mods to toy with by then anyway. I actually may end up waiting for quite awhile since I'll probably be getting Titan Quest by then. That should satisfy my thirst for Diablo-like ARPG play for awhile. I guess I'll get Torchlight when I'm tired of TQ. -
Nov 15, 2009stoaster posted a message on Community Spotlight - Chapter II like the idea. This kind of thing is always a nice addition since it helps to make the users feel like more of a community. I tried something similar on another site years ago but it never really took off. I'll look forward to checking these each fortnight.:)Posted in: News
Edit- Don't go back to Zhar if you don't want to, just keep the Zhar sig or add "formerly Zhar" under a new sig. If people just don't want to type extra they can always just use Fuzo, which sounds kinda neat too. People that have been more active for a longer period of time will have a longer time to adjust, but they'll be fine as long as you continue to ween them off Zhar as you have with the sig/avatar.
Another edit- hey post number 200. Yay and whatnot I guess. -
Oct 16, 2009stoaster posted a message on Site Update: Forum RulesPrior to those comments I was never sure what was meant by QQ or TT, guess I'm not cool enoughPosted in: News
On topic though, I always like to see well managed forums that discourage some of the annoying parts of most forums(overly rude posts, racial slurs, etc). These rules look nice to me. -
Oct 8, 2009stoaster posted a message on Auras to Return in Diablo III?I wouldn't mind him having skills that put a big symbol on the ground ad any allies within that area could gain a bonus much like auras, but I don't think the D2 aura system would quite fit.Posted in: News
As for the armor, I had more or less assumed that he would be able to equip a variety of armor and just have it look differently on him much like the sorc and necro didn't look like the barb or paladin when wearing the same armor. -
Sep 25, 2009stoaster posted a message on What's Your Favorite Monk Skill?Impenetrable defense seems really cool but I'm gonna have to go with Way of a Hundred Fists since I like the three part attack. It'll be really fun to switch between skills and mix and match the parts of different attacks. I always hated the assassin's charge based combo system but the monk's system looks great.Posted in: News

Aug 21, 2009stoaster posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?Posted in: NewsQuote from "scyberdragon" »I am saying that the new style is not a tetris style. just a style with a grid. there is really no maneuvering your items to make room for new ones.
The term 'tetris' is only applied loosely, I wouldn't get too hung up on it. I suspect most people liked the old system because you could see a full size image of each item instead of a traditional list or miniature icons. That and the idea of each item's size actually meant something when it came to carrying stuff. But I don't think most people liked it because you had to rearrange stuff all the time.
Of course this new system is a compromise between the old 'tetris' system and a more traditional list that earlier videos suggested, but since it involves placing items of more tha one size on a grid people will stick to the established term 'tetris'. -
Aug 21, 2009stoaster posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?Posted in: NewsQuote from "scyberdragon" »I am the only one who doesn't see this new inventory style as the tetris style. Sure, you now just have one screen to fit all of your items in but it is nowhere near the type of tetris style from D2. Every item is 1 or 2 squares. This hardly leaves any room for maneuvering items around to fit more items in your bag. When people are talking about rotating the items i just dont get it. To me it seems more like they took there last concept and just brought it down to one bag.
Yeah, the rotating option wouldn't make a big difference considering there are only 2 sizes. Of course if you have an odd number for the height of the inventory, rotating would still help if you were carrying almost all large(2 space) items. -
Aug 20, 2009stoaster posted a message on Has the Tetris Inventory and Magic Find Returned?I'm happy about the tetris inventory coming back, although I hope we can rotate the items 90 degrees this time.Posted in: News
The only other inventory system I can think of that I'd like as much as the tetris version would be a weight based version. It's been used in countless other games and I generally like it assuming they don't put the limit too low without a way to increase it. -
Jul 14, 2009stoaster posted a message on Inventory Bags ExplainedI'll miss the tetris style storage but I think the new system wont really take away from the game anyway. If more inventory space can be found as drops then I imagine I will be quite excited about those drops.Posted in: News

Hmm, Some of the sound changes in the video are ok but I think the color change really does take a lot away from the game. At least to me it seems as though it would be kinda hard to see what was what and just otherwise get boring after awhile. I think it really shows some of the potential problems Wilson was talking about.
Thanks for posting though, it's an interesting video. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I'd also like to throw in 2nd and 3rd Matrix films. The first one was fun, 2 and 3 made me sleepy.
As for movies that have already been listed that I enjoyed:
Avatar-not as great as the hype, but still enjoyable. Better than I expected at least.
Spider Man and most other superhero movies- They are junk in a sense, but enjoyable junk for at least the first watch.
various parodies- not all are bad. For example, Space Balls is a classic. But if you just meant the series like Scary Movie and Date Movie then I agree, pretty much all junk.

Lately I have been favoring m&ms though. I don't normally buy a bunch of candy, but I've found recently that I really like peanut m&ms. I don't have much preference on regular or dark chocolate on them, but my fiancee prefers dark, so that's what I've bought most recently.

I think the WD looks like he's just as much fun, but I've never been as interested in voodoo stuff.

Well the manga is still ongoing with no end in sight. I don't bother with the manga. For whatever reason, I just never got into manga even though I used to read a lot of comic books and I've enjoyed a number of anime. I just watch the show online each week.
I got the picture from Wallbase after Huck suggested it a few posts back. They really have some great wallpapers. Click on the link or use the keyword 'abstract'. The results they show are awesome.

And yeah, as you can see I'm a One Piece nerd. There aren't any other anime I'm currently following, but One Piece has to be my favorite show so far in my life.

I haven't played it either but I've heard really mixed reactions. Some people have claimed it's the best FPS out there for various reasons and that because of the randomized guns it has incredible replay. Others have told me it was only fun for a few hours, felt monotonous and most of the guns felt like they were pretty much the same.

Nice. My cat often sleeps like that with a fuzzy blue sock/slipper thing , I should take a picture of it at some point.

Hmm, act 5 did offer more diversity, but I certainly wouldn't call it the best of them. Really I found Act 5 to be my least favorite and always thought the expansion broke more than it fixed, but I guess that's a whole separate topic.

Well it will go back to $20 eventually, but Steam and the main torchlight site both have it on sale for the time being.
