The Diablo I and II logo had the right leg of the "A" in "Diablo" coming down..now in the Diablo III logo, the LEFT leg is coming down, with respect to the right. Why they changed that, and Tyrael's wings, beats me, though I do not mind it one bit.

The designers changed, and so did their vision of best design.
The point is directional symmetry. The A and the B curve in opposite directions, giving the center of the logo significance which also draws the eyes towards the III more. If they had kept it the other way, your eyes would follow it from left to right without stopping in the middle and it wouldn't have been as visually pleasing.

The O and the D, although not perfectly distance, are symmetrically pleasing. The I and the L are one stem away from being the same letter, and the A's and the B's curves match perfectly.
