I don't know about everyone else but I always thought trading in D2 was fun before d2jsp came around...
Remember spamming trade chat, joining gmaes, trying to make deals. The hunt was always the fun part for me. Sometimes I would get lucky and make a sweet trade, sometimes I would over pay for a item I really needed, sometimes it would take days to get that rare item you really needed. Finding a good item that you didnt need and pawning it off to make yourself a little bit more rich! Even though it would make me angry when I was about to make a trade and the other guy would back out it was still kinda fun.
d2jsp ruined all of that. Not only did it make trading really easy and take the fun out of item hunting, but it destroy the economy because you can pay real life $cash$ for items. That even takes the joy out of finding something good in game because if I need something why waste the time trying to trade or find it and just pay cash for it. I know this is not an option for everyone but still...
So the question is how does blizzard team put a stop to d2jsp? Some people think all they have to do is put a system in game that is so good it makes d2jsp obsolete. I personally don't think that will work at all because d2jsp makes trading about as easy as it can get and you can pay cash for items. I really dout blizzard will allow people to pay cash for there items and I sure hope they don't.
I have not thought of any creative systems yet that blizzard could possibly put in game to stop this. I am not a big fan of the auction house system because it makes trading really easy and takes the hunt out and it also sets standard prices for items in the economy so everyone looks at what the item they are selling goes for on the AH and puts it up for around the same price. Why is that bad? Because it takes the fun out of making good deals and getting lucky!
As of right now I have no idea what blizzard can do to stop d2jsp. I don't know if there are legal actions they can take? thats not really my area of expertise.
So I say as a community we should start coming up with our own ideas and throwing them out there.
I have a solution!
Best system so far...
In-game Auction House/ISO System where users post items anonymously with no price listed (you can post comments for what your looking for).
When you find something you would like to trade for there is an option to contact the buyer/seller and make a deal. However the game will mask the two individuals names as Buyer and Seller. Once an agreement has been made and both parties want to trade they click a button to do the trade. This will then send the buyer and seller into a private trading game where there names are hidden from eachother and then they complete the trade. Once in game you can do all the trading you want. The users will not be able to type there own name in chat boxes to prevent sending there real names to eachother.
Blizzard can also disable trading of items of a certain value in "regular games". Players can join random "trading games" where their name will be hidden, and unrestricted in-game trading can occur. Players can not choose which trading game to join and can not see the name of the game.
The down side to this is that you would not be able to trade with friends easily. To counter this, Blizzard can also make it so that if you have a mutual friend for 10 (or more) days you can trade without restrictions (and gain a special achievement :-]). This will not prevent FG trading but will make it very annoying.
Then all blizzard has to do is make sure gold is not the common currency and it will make things very difficult for gold farmers.
With this system trading stays FUN, LEGIT and EASY!
d2jsp was not around when I played D2 on bnet. I have read some about it on google but I still don't really understand. Apparently it is some kind of "forum gold" that only has purpose on some lame unofficial forum? Why would anyone want that first of all, and secondly, how do you physically transact a trade without getting ripped off if you're trading for forum gold outside of the game without using the trade window?

You post a trade and say how much FG you want. Everyone bids in the thread and the item goes to highest bidder. Then they send you the FG and you give them the item in game. The way the keep people from scamming is easy because d2jsp has a monopoly over the entire trade system. So if you try and cheat GL trading again.
I am not everyone likes the hunt. Sometimes I would even get tired of it. But D2JSP has to GO! I think and AH system where you put and item up with no price and had to interact with the buyer/seller would keep the hunt fun but not to tedious like it use to be.
Yeah i agree, bcoz sum people have pockets way too big and want the best (brats), so i reate that must go as well, i never played on the BIG servers, only the ones hosted in my lil country but u right, buying a Windforce for $1 or whatever it was is retarded, i remember trading a gul rune or summin stupid for my Windforce, so yeah i must agree

Only reason that it is popular is maybe the fact that you can buy forum gold with real money. So even if you don't gain any wealth by finding items and trading them, you can just buy the forum gold and then buy yourself the best stuff.
Making some kind of nice trade system to D3 would probably drive people away from the forums.. it would be faster, more reliable and no 3rd party involved.

The thing about it is how it can be easily flawed. You can make an acc save up fg by playing ladder slasher or sellin stuff then when you have enough go trade x2 sojs and GG's they hit trade you hit accept you send that fg to another account and do ALL OVER AGAIn. lol......why dont I do this? rofl

Wtf does D2JSP have to do with the fact that you can pay cash for items? There's a hundred sites out there that sell D2 items for cash...
Actually 'cash' is too much of a word. You can equip your character with the best possible gear for peanuts.
Yes I know there are other sites that sell items but they are not on the scale that d2jsp is and yes I think they should be stopped to. Anyway if you can stop d2jsp then you can stop all the other sites like it...
The thing is, forum gold has a great value. Ingame gold has none.
If they make sure gold is very important in Diablo III, such as being absolutely necessary to get some useful stuff, and regulate the amout given to the player, then ingame gold will be used as a currency. Just like in WoW actually, you may not want to hear this, but WoW completely succeeded on this point. Because you need it to buy a new mount, buy some stuff... and whatever you do, there's always a small fee to pay.
If gold is only something you occasionaly need to repair stuff or buy scrolls, then it's completely useless... and will not be used as a currency.
I personally think the WoW gold system is complete fail and I hope gold is not a currency because it makes it that much easier for gold farmers. They dont have to get out there and trade because whatever they find has a currency in gold.
Actually, you will always be able to purchase anything from the internet no matter if its gold or items as long as its not soulbound. In D2 you were able to purchase any godly item for a buck, and in D3 you will be able to buy gold in addition. Who gives a shit about D2JSP and FG.
Even if every single item was soul bound people would just pay others to get levels for them. People are always going to pay for a service some way or another to get further with little work.
Blizzard declares it against the EULA to buy/sell items for an out of game currency.
Any forum that negotiates trades for some other currency is going to have to list player account names or character names. Otherwise players would have no way to negotiate trades.
Then Blizzard can simply go look on the forums and ban those accounts every now and then. It wont take many banned accounts before people stop doing it.

This will not work because people would not make there forum account names the same as there d3 accounts.
Soulbound items is not an option because it takes away trading period.
We need something else to go along with a good in-game system that deturs the use of third party sites.

If they dont list their account name on the forum then you wouldn't know who you were trading with, and there would be no way to keep track of a bed reputation for players who did not respect the honor system of delivering an item that has been paid for. So I think they would still have to say their account name, at which point blizzard gets the upper hand.
Nope they do it through Private Messages Blizzard cannot see those
You're right. As long as there is no easy currency in Diablo, players will find a way to make one. The only way for Blizzard to stay in control is by making their own currency into the game that satisfies the needs of players. And Jay has stated (casually) that this is something they intend to do. So as long as they stay true to their word, this shouldn't be an issue.
If they can take down d2jsp I would be vary vary impressed lol.
