It would be cool if each boss had different levels of damage states sort of like when you're destroying a building in a RTS game, you see it gradually crumble and deteriorate before finally blowing up.
Diablo has never done this...the boss shows no visual sign of being worn down until he finally drops. This wouldn't be too hard to do by drawing progressively beaten and bloodied texture maps for the boss, but if they wanted to spend even more time on it they could change some of the 3D model or even make the boss change its play style as it gets beaten down...for example, a boss could lose one of its clubbing arms and switch to a different kind of attack, or a hydra boss could lose some of its heads...you get the idea.
Sounds like good idea, and I'm sure they've considered it, if I recall correctly the Thousand Pounder seemed to get pissed off and become more aggressive after he got thrown around by the Barbarian for awhile. I like that kind of change, but for some reason I'm just not all that keen on the idea of switching weapons or losing limbs. Seems a little too drastic of a change.

Don't try to be a great man, just be a man... and let history make its own judgment. -Zefram Cochrane, Star Trek
I'd be for anything making the AI a little bit smarter. Maybe the monster would realize his enemies for example he's being attacked by 3 barbarians only. Maybe he swaps to an axe/shield combo and he busts out the 2h when the group is dominantly casters.
As for deterioration like buildings, it would be a nice little plus.

"The gaming public now has focus on Diablo again, and with it comes the modern-age of trolling and jackassery."
Not sure if they will insert this, blizzard is very strict with the things that would lag the game on weak computers... nice idea though
Swapping a texture or model when health gets low does not lag slow computers. It is a cheap operation and does not need to be performed rapidly because there is no need for more than, say, 5 different textures for different levels of damage. Hell, even Doom for the 386 had his face get progressively bloodier!
