I'm a complete noob to Diablo and just starting playing. I know season 5 is about to expire in 15 days or so but I want to go for the legendary set reward nonetheless. From what I read on the internet, it's not possible to go into rifts with Campaign mode and that's one of the objective to get parts of the set BUT, as a newcomer, I also want to do the Campaign to enjoy the storyline (I also know it's not the fastest route to leveling but still...).
So my question is: can I participate in the season with Campaign mode and be able to complete all the legendary set objectives without having to recreate a new character in Adventure mode?
You should run the whole story (campaign) mode just to know what's going on in the game, but if you don't want to do that then there are ways around it (and you can always run the whole thing later).
Someone else who has completed story mode (pretty much anyone) can invite you into an adventure mode game (and just let you run it until you leave the game- doesn't unlock it for you playing solo) or invite you into a campaign mode game at the very end and you can just kill Mal and unlock adventure mode.
If you need help join a clan or one of the communities and ask for help.
That's what I though about having access to adventure but the game gave me the choice for my first seasonal play between this and Campaign (hence my question).
I didn't tried to select it though. I don't know if playing as seasonal is an exception to the rule.

Thank you for the answer.
I guess I need to wait to complete Act 4 or 5 to be able to switch, because I can't see the option yet.
