The Nephalem(Half demon Half angels) were the original humans who had the potential to be stronger than both some diablo lore says, Inarius changed the world stone to drain ther powers more with every successive generation. With the World Stone taken care of in Diablo. 20 years has passed, more than enough time for a new generation of beings featuring both demonic and angelic powers to be born.
Does anyone else think they may be featured in this game? As anything from enemies, to perhaps even a class?

Definitely not a class, they're too powerful.
I doubt they'll be around as enemies, Sanctuary is their home.
yea but as they are only the first generation to regain their powers, perhaps they could be more low-key and not as overpowered as they were originally?

They're like epic heroes, you can't really have them as a class. They have potential to be stronger than angels and demons.
true that, also, who sais that humans have to be newly born to regain their nelaphem power? After all, we will battle diablo. What bette use for us than to be regaining some power in the end. If Diablo has returned (duh) he might be able to create his own soulstones, arming the denizens of hell with them, requireing stronger heroes to face the threat.

Perhaps the implausibility of its own existence makes the skeleton think it hilarious to hide in a barrel, cackling intermittently for some three hundred years until a victim happens by?

... and no one thought twice about chugging something that had been stuffed into a poisonous mummy for the last thousand years. This magical orb shit is going to ruin my sense of immersion big time.
It wouldnt be a far stretch to include some sort of a Nephalem character class, perhaps the 'Awakened Nephalem' which would be a younger, inexpirienced and henceforth weaker magic class which could replace the sorc. But at the same time technically all humans are just dormant Nephalem so a specific class of them is unlikely.
The game definately is going to include them somehow because the entire reason the Burning Hells want to take over Sanctuary and the Heavens want to destroy it is for control over the Nephalem.
Humans aren't Nephalem exactly. Nephalem are direct offspring of angels and demons. Humans are bred from that.
Humans are kind of a very watered down version of Nephalem.
Humans have lost their magic roots over time, not all of them but they've been weakened. Now that the Worldstone is gone the generations might get stronger slowly but it won't be like BAM the next generation is 10x as powerful as the last.
Ofcourse due to the Worldstone the Nephalem's power has been slowly drained with each generation, therefore making any new offsprings to the nephalem weaker and weaker.
The offspring slowly got weaker and weaker. So humans would have to slowly get stronger also.
1. Nephalem = Humans when you get right to it.
2. The Worldstone Fragments may be used for the Respec System.
3. What do you think is so special about Leah? Hmmm?
By the way, the potential to become greater than both angels and demons isn't new. Your characters in both games have done it. Humans have the potential to become greater and more powerful than either side. The brightest flame burns the quickest.
Perhaps, the Worldstone took time to weaken the Nephalem, many generations, it didn't happen overnight so one can assume the reverse is also true, that humans will slowly regain their power. Due to this there may be some weakened Nephalem born, although they will probably have to remain NPCs.

Don't try to be a great man, just be a man... and let history make its own judgment. -Zefram Cochrane, Star Trek
i would think overtime they would get back the power, kinda of like overtime they lost it. Slowly the next generation will be a little stronger, and so on and so on.
So, is Rathma and Bul'Kalthos still around? Or are they dead? Would be cool to see them as NPCs!!
I'm not sure, because it's easy to assume that the "Immortal King" set can refer to Bul-Kathos, indicating that he is, yes, still alive, but perhaps in a weakened-dormant state.
As far as Rathma goes, it's again, hard to tell. He was closer to Tra(n)g'Oul than any of his followers and was likely his incarnation, or Avatar, after the discovery of Sanctuary by the High Heavens. I would think him to still be alive, over Esu or Bul-Kathos, simply because he actually, you know... is buddies with the only, um, "GOD" of Sanctuary.
And, just because they were "Weakened slowly" doesn't mean that they will regain themselves slowly. The thing you have to remember is that we -saw- how incredibly powerful the Vizjeri and the Barbarians and so forth. Even after so many centuries! Maybe it's because they're so incredibly powerful (outshining angels and demons, mind you) that they were weakened so slowly because only SO MUCH power could be taken from them. It would beg be thought then, instead of a slow regain of that power, it is instead that such power has stopped being robbed in such massive quantities, allowing them to grow once again in leaps and bounds.

Might be in the game in another way though.

- weaken Nephalems will be NPCs.
- Leah might be on of weaken Nephalem, if she born after the destruction of the Worldstone.
- If it is Heaven Vs Hell, the Nephalems might has important rule to stop it.
