While I'm on your side in this one, stop using the WoW argument, please. It's not the fact that they were in WoW that will mess up Diablo 3, but the fact that it wouldn't promote the heavy trade-based economy that Diablo 1 and 2 have built up.
Sorry but I hate wow and this is as far as I know were soul binding is from. If you dont want someone to bring up a game then dont say something from said game and not expect the game to named. lol
It becomes really difficult to find a happy medium in this type of a game. On one hand soul bound items would prevent you from trading the cool loot that you get, and that is a big part of the game and will be even bigger in Diablo 3 from what I gathered from the devs. On the other hand items tend become currency rather than anything else. This leads to many things and especially duping. Either way you are really screwed, but I will tell you one thing right now. Its difficult to stop gold sellers because they get the gold legitly, but you can stop people from duping items. If Battle.net 2.0 is as good as Blizzard claimes it's going to be than I don't think putting any sort of restriction on items will be necessary. The economy shouldn't go to crap like it did in Diablo 2.
It's not because the economy is crooked and there are no outlets. There is simply more, more, more items in circulation and nobody is spending them. There is no consumption, rot, wear, tear, etc.[quote]
Well I played D2 for years, and the economy was always fine, without a gold standard or soulbound items, usually you could get everything you needed.
[quote]I don't know how DII works... I play SP.
Items were not soulbound basically, no gold standard.
I don't know how WoW works... I sense you are being sarcastic. That's not very polite of you. Oh well.
Yes I was being sarcastic because soulbound will not fix the certain point you made, if everyone aspires to earn the best gear, they'll get it one way or the other, nobody is going to be completely unique unless Blizz blows our minds in Diablo 3.

Still, where the game mechanic comes from (and WoW was not the first to use it, btw), is not a valid argument for using it, or not.
The merits of the system itself are what should be considered. If I go soley by your logic, if I hate world of warcraft, swords should not be in Diablo 3, because they were in WoW.
See what a dumb argument it makes?
