I wont name any names, I wont point any fingers. But it seems like quite a few people on the forums have problems with the way Blizzard is making Diablo 3. Off the top of my head:
Cartoon Graphics
Health Globes vs Potions
Inventory Style (Tetris vs 1Item Slots)
Just to name a few.
To me, it seems like you dont want Diablo 3, you just want another Diablo 2. I promise you, Blizzard will not let us down. Diablo 3 is going to be amazing, no matter how they implement the things mentioned above.
They are not done with the graphics, and im sure they will be more detailed when its released.
I dont think the health globes are meant to replace potions, you will still need to rely on them. But you will also have the luxary of gathering health globes when you're running low on health.
As for the inventory style, Blizzard has said you will be fighting mobs of monsters unlike anything you've seen in a Diablo game to date, and you will be gathering more items than in previous games. The new inventory system will allow you to carry the items you find, but im sure it wont be unlimited. You will still have to return to town during a dungeon to empty your inventory.
All Im saying is, lets give Blizzard a chance, and when the game is released, (or very close to it) if it still isn't what we want, then lets inform Blizzard. There is no need to make "formal letters" to Blizzard so early in developement. They need a chance to fine tune everything on their own, they are a big company, and very smart. I can guarentee they will not half-ass this game.
I know it will be a great game, but what's the harm of telling people what would make it an even better game, I mean surely there are things about even diablo 2 that we would ask them to improve as we could. There will never be a perfect game, but why not try to get as close as possible? While I see that some of the complaining is a bit... well almost offensive, I do not see anything wrong with people making suggestions as to how to improve the game. People had complaints about the brightness of starcraft 2 as well until people suggested that the game be darker. Blizzard listened to these suggestions and made starcraft 2 look a lot better. I don't see anything wrong with that type of thing. Unless you have a reason why it should look as it does now, I don't see how these suggestions are in anyway hurting you or the game.
umm i think most developers these days would encourage feedback and criticism. but you're telling us to wait until after the game has been released to voice our opinions to blizzard? doesn't that defeat the purpose?

No. I want Diablo III. And I would like for Blizzard to admire the gothic horror that was presented in the previous Diablo games and to retain it's core design philosophy as a very violent, grim and dark atmosphere. Surely the gameplay may be enjoyable, but the art style is not as reminiscent to Diablo as it is to the stylized Warcraft. Please accept this and how people like me feel about this issue :).

Perhaps, but Ron made it firm and clear that he and the team are very satisfied with the current style and color palette. Because of this, these colors and textures may be spread throughout the entire game.

Understandable, and I am open to new elements such as this. I have no problem with health globes whatsoever.

This is acceptable and I must agree to an extent. The problem most people have about this is that it isn't entirely realistic, seeing as how a mere gem or potion can take up the same amount of space as a large axe or item of armor. The previous inventory design promoted a thought process into organization and which item would be needed the most among the slew that were available.

You should not complain about what major elements of a game need to be changed once it is near its release (ala art style). For one thing, it is near release. Secondly, the game is most likely to be finished while they add touch-ups and other small changes. The gameplay demo was a bad example and stirred a lot of controversy and hatred towards the new design style. If people like me want it to change, it must be done in early development.
I am not denying the fact that this game has the potential to be incredible and incredibly fun. I am simply saying that the art direction is not what I had expected nor is it very true to the original Diablo. It seems to me that Diablo III is more of a guinea pig in the eyes of the developers, experimenting with new palettes to supposedly convey a much darker mood and emotion. By the looks of things, many can agree that it hasn't worked very well thus far. I, like many others, am simply suggesting as to how this game can be made better to the long-time fans of Diablo and its gothic horror atmosphere.
Why does a sequel means CHANGE EVERYTHING AND SCRAP OLD IDEAS USED IN OLD DIABLOS.
Explain.
It doesn't mean change the old, it doesn't mean keep it the same either. It means to take a constructive look at what has been done and what can be done now. They are adding and developing the game, I mean to some it really just feels like a Diablo video. It doesn't feel like one of the other 3/4 camera angle game, its got that viceral pull that Diablo has. To some its all there, to others it isn't.
I'm looking forward to the enhancements, especially to how positioning will play a more integral part to the game. I want some good and updated boss combat.
I've always wondered why people who just want another Diablo 2 don't go play some mods. Some of them are incredibly in-depth, and make the game really fun, and add a lot of stuff.
However, those you are trying to reach probably won't hear your message.
And also with you:cool:

Wow if all these people that complain keep complaining...why would they even bother buying the game? it must not sound appealing to them. So get off the forums if all you are going to do is complain.
My question... why are so many people offended by suggestions?
Its not that im offended by the suggestions, But it seems like the only thing people have talked about since the announcement, are complaints about the game. No one has given Blizzard a chance to show more character classes, monsters, places, etc. We have only seen a small fraction of the game, and only Blizzard knows how the rest of the game will turn out, compared to the first two Diablos.

Scrap everything? Exaggerate much?

Because its a waste of TPs to go back to town to unload items that, thats annoying.
Because potions are basically useless once you get to act 5 in normal.
Because the graphics are evolving, but you can make a modded expansion for d2 if you really want to.

Complaints about people complaining about the game are just as numerous.
Please, Everyone, stop creating new threads on subjects that are being discussed in multiple other threads.
Thank you.
