So, now that Blizzard has just announced the third game in a series that was created by, for all intensive purposes, a different company, how do you think the employees of the late "Blizzard North" are feeling right about now? I don't think anything serious will happen, such as any legal action, but how do you think they feel? I wonder if they'll play it...
I wondered the same exact thing earlier today, specifically those working on different projects, such as mythos, seeing this as extreme competition. I think their biggest problem will be that many people will play diablo 3 over their game regardless of being a developer of d2, because most people have the loyalty to the diablo name.
Not even half of Blizzard North left.. so this is not even a big deal. They were aloud to reapply for their job in Blizzard HQ, and only half went... so the ones that did not go suxor anyway

Maybe not half, but,
"By June of 2003 two new games were in production. However on June 30, 2003, several key employees left Blizzard North to form the new companies Flagship Studios (8 moved here) and Castaway Entertainment (9 moved here). The Blizzard North exodus continued on with around 30 employees leaving the company in total."

Actually, Larry, 100% of the Blizzard North folks who worked on the original "Diablo":
max schaefer
eric sexton
kenneth williams
david brevik
erich schaefer
peter brevik
doron gartner
jon morin
robin van der wel
richard seis
ben haas
kelly johnson
matt uelmen
michio okamura
hugh tom byrne
patrick tougas
christopher root
mark sutherland
karin colenzo
don't work at Blizzard currently. That's "none" as opposed to "half".
I would of sucked it in and conceded to any organizational changes in Blizzard and build up clout through making Diablo 3 according to Blizzard's standards THEN take a lead role in blizzard.

Blizzard North broke up because alot of stupid employees thought they were too good for their job..Left and went on to create other companies. So i hope this game DESTROYS any game they make...Cuz honestly they deserve is for abandoning us Diablo fans.
So they can be pissed all they want..they are the ones who left blizzard.
Also im sure alot of North employees went to work for blizzard anyways.
Mythos was something to look forward to until Diablo III. Hellgate was way overhyped. In my opinion, Flagship failed, though I would have wanted to see a different outcome. They really had potential.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Flagship Studios, comprised mostly of the core Diablo team made Hellgate London, literally the laughing stock currently of the industry, and one of the most disappointing games ever released.
Mythos can't compete with Diablo.
Casteaway Entertainment is dead.
And UI Pacific Games is dead too.
So, Blizzard North was just full of fail besides the original Diablo.
You guys really suck at Blizzard History. First off, there is no chance that Blizzard North would 'beg' for their jobs back at Blizzard Entertainemt why? A conflict between the branch and the main companies emerged around 2003, resulting in Blizzard North to leave entirely, thus Blizzard North ceased to be.
That's not too hard right now.

Castaway = dead
FF studios = meh

SC2 and D3 were the games?
Or D3 and WoW?

Willing to help xfers/mods.
Might explain the *cough* similarities.
I also noticed during a dev panel, one of the D3 devs kept using the term "they" when referring to working on D2. I was a little upset.
D3 is SO nice. They made the chars HEROES. Awesome skills, its just FANTASTIC!
Wow really?
that does suck.

Really. Can you name one of the almost twenty on that list there now?
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Lets see here.
Flagship Studios, comprised mostly of the core Diablo team made Hellgate London, literally the laughing stock currently of the industry, and one of the most disappointing games ever released.

Casteaway Entertainment is dead.

Note that I put an emphasis on 'conflict'
Less than 1/4 of the Blizzard North employees with a credit on "Diablo II" moved on to Flagship.
