If anyone watched the BlizzCon 07 videos showcasing the SC2 singleplayer, it was clear they changed many many things.
I believe that these drastic changes will in some way, carry over to D3.
For instance, in SC1, there were no choices. You went from one mission to the next without any options in between. This is much the same way D2 is. The quests were there and had a predefined order, even though this could be slightly altered for some acts, D2 remained incredibly linear.
SC2 changes all that. Now, you don't just move mission to mission without rhyme or reason. You pick which planets to go to, which battles to fight. There are even subplots between missions that allow you different options and possible different outcomes. I believe this will in some way tie into D3. Whether it be in the form of character advancement, quest decisions or even the Hell vs. Heaven aspect.
I for one believe the changes they are making in SC2 will make it many many times more enjoyable than the previous and I personally think that the idea of making drastic changes like this do in some way affect the outcome of D3. I believe its a good thing that Blizzard is not afraid to change the gameplay we all loved so much. I believe they are only taking steps in the right direction.
Why do you hate us?
I agree that since they are making drastic changes on starcraft 2 that is making the starcraft fans happy they will make drastic changes to diablo make us diablo fans happy:)

Because a bunch of people read it and no one replied.
I only just read it. But yes, it's nice to see Blizzard experimenting with new features in Starcraft 2. It's time they start to evolve their games beyond what the basics of what their previous games have shown.
I was really into how you could learn about the different planets and view the star map. And I do hope the apply these kinds of innovations to D3 and make it more than just a mere hack n slash.
I like to read stuff with the dissapointment of yet another Blizzcon I was just bummed out some.
Yeah, blizzard sure isn't afraid of chance... RTS to MMO??
For Diablo i don't want any super changes to the gameplay... Stay hack and slash, but for anything else, hell let them have fun making it, it will turn out great either way.

If you ever meet a hafling and a hungry dragon you dont have to outrun the dragon, you only have to outrun the hafling.
well lets see. personally, i wouldent even mind a new d2 with updated graphics right now. but if they could add in all the choices and sort of make it like fable that would be sweet. but your alignment should have to do with the quests your offerd and the look of your char. it could even go as far as make like evil/good a requirement for skills. for instance, kill 10 angels to recive skill deathangel strike or something and now you can put skill points into that and make it stronger.

that sounds so un-diablo to me. btw if its not an MMORPG aka Warcraft, then you shouldnt be able to kill angels because yer a hero, and thatsyour role in the story
(sorry for atrocious writing, it takes 500000 years to type with the onscreen)
D1 to D2 wasn't that big of a jump, and it still kicked ass. So I personally wouldn't want d3 to be too different. Its hard to say exactly what I want, but hey that's why I'm a consumer not a producer;)

I'm definitely interest with this new drastic improvement, however I'm still confused about how upgrade will work and ofcourse If We will be able to add Quest Missions into the Starcraft2 Editor (which They said It will be a lot better than the previous one).
People may be confuse about how are we going to use this new feature, but let's say that It's been a long time We (starcraft/Warcraft map editors) want it to apply Multiple-Missions with different maps and I'm sure things will be a lot more enjoyable with the Starcraft2 map editor.

because it was a 4 year difference.
Now. it will be 8.
+with all these decidible games like GW or Fable...
my thoughts: im buying sc2 the second it is released here in eastern US. i loved sc1, i love most blizzard games. it looks absolutely amazing..... :'( i just hope i can play it on my linux pc >_<

well if they keep adding new features a lot of "un diablo like" things will be implemented into the game...... just like they did with starcraft, thats the point of this thread. and why would killing angels make the game a mmorpg. and its not somethign i want to see it was jus an example, because i want to see something along those lines. im pretty sure things like heaven and hell are going to be a prominat force in the game.

Blizzard has changed a major aspect of the game, which is indeed the single player campaign, but one thing they have left in tact is the uniquely balanced gameplay between the races. I believe they have changed what needed to be changed most. I felt kind of "forced" in StarCraft I, and indeed I was. In StarCraft II, I can choose what I want to do first, instead of StarCraft I where I would get stuck on the same mission over and over and over again when I couldn't beat it.

They're probably trying to get people from resorting to using as many cheat codes. Precious "there is no cow level".

I believe, after you complete a mission, you "win" an upgrade, or something along those lines, then go down to the basement place XD and click the computer, and buy the upgrades, new units, etc. I think its a wonderful idea and sounds more challenging.
