Inadvertently, it seems the Blizzard crew may have tweeted about what to expect with the fifth class. Of course, this is going to take some thinking outside the box, so bear with me.

Diablo: Every fire explosion the FX guys create is the best fire explosion we’ve ever had in the game. I think they’ve got a competition going.
First off, we have to consider that the existing mage classes ( Witch Doctor and Wizard) have a minimum of fire skills. The Witch Doctor has several of course, but the explosions for Skull of Flame have already been completed, or so I would assume since it was shown in the first gameplay demo. Pit of Fire is also a fire skill, but I can't imagine an explosion coming from a roiling pit of flames. I could be proven wrong of course, so don't quote me on this.
As for the Wizard, they have no fire skills. They have Arcane, Lightning, and Cold, but as of now we've yet to see any fire skills used by the Wizard. I highly doubt the Barbarian will have many explosive skills, however the Monk may have a couple up his sleeves.
Now, if the FX team is doing so much work on flaming explosions, we have to ask, where are these going to fit in?
Of course, they could be doing work on skills used by monsters (remember the Catapult back in Lord of Destruction?), or perhaps some traps. However, my money is on this becoming a significant part of the fifth class. Right now, the majority of people speculate the fifth class to be some form of ranged class. Thus, if we look back upon Diablo II, we already have a ranged class who used fire, being the Amazon. She even had a skill called Exploding Arrow, which was followed by Immolation Arrow, both ranged fire skills that featured an explosive animation.
Now, I'm not suggesting they're going to recycle the skills from the Amazon, but right now, I would put money on the fifth class featuring some wicked looking explosions.

Agreed, though I'd definitely like to see traps that actually have to be walked over, not traps that spit fire n' such at stuff. Would add a whole new tactical element if you had to plan layout n' such.

As long as there is good sound effects to go along with the explosions.

The final class will be the Praemancer. She will come with a UI bar that gradually fills as she completes chain kills, and, when full, will cause her head to explode and shoot fire out of her top-most cervical vertebrae.
I don't think this will play into the fifth class. The fire fx most likely to mobs, traps, special events and to the few skills that have fire since you can pop a rune into them and make it different.

Ironically the side bar ad next to this post was "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires" with Smokey the Bear. Perhaps this is a sign...Druid-esque fifth class?

Diablo fans deserve a downloadable version of the Blizzcon D3 demo.

while it does make sense, i believe that some new skills that include fire explosions are being developed for the fifth class too.
i always thought of the final class to be a bow archetype with some traps. so a fire explosion arrow and a fire trap would make perfect sense to me.
that, or they're fine tuning the effects of every fiery explosion to make sure all of them are equally spectacular (which also would make perfect sense, since all of the Blizzard games get some graphics luv before release).
They are probably spicicing up explosions in general, i.e. for traps, events, some abilities (nps/monster/maybe some characteristic). Nothing to worry about!
Whaaaaat, they started working on the fire effects just NOW?! Since they have been working on Diablo 3 for like 3 years now (or even more?) one would think they would be done working on effects a long time ago... Cause it feels like they are Just starting to actually work on the game... Can we say goodbye to our hopes that D3 will come out next year?
effects can be the last to be added. first you need to make sure the game is actually working. if they started working on making the effects look better, it wont be long till alpha and god help us (to get in) beta.
if the final character is fully playable at Blizzcon we will all have one more reason to hope it wont be long till we finally get closer to release!
How can you guys find reasons and efforts in speculating over the most meaningless and vague twitter post? Its like feeding on bread crumbs on purpose. What people end up talking about from a simple line of text makes me face palm.
If you take the quote word for word, then it really doesn't distinguish if the fire effects are for the player characters ... It can easily be effects created for the monsters or bosses, or even the background/scenery.
Very nice analysis. Perhaps #5 will be some sort of Alchemist? Firebombs and burnination abound! Perhaps some manner of gunslinger - with a fucking CANNON.
I doubt they'd bring the Amazon back; she's been played to death I'm sure.

perhaps you should go somewhere quiet to facepalm and let those who wish to talk about anything, talk. your post is neither constructive nor polite. smells like a troll.
Keep in mind that Bashiok also said that they would not be going out of their way to make the most original archetypes, and that they will be sticking with commonly accepted ones. I still say that the fifth class will be some manner of bow-wielding rogue-type character.

Explosions are always good. I think if the last class used some sort of mechanical traps, explosions would be fun and everywhere.

So, is it at all possible that the 5th class is in fact a demon?
