So, I got curious if anyone else was using my build and did some searching around on here. I don't see anyone really posting about anything similar to it:
On Gear:
I do this with a 1h/Shield, though it feels like it could work with much better armor (mine kinda sucks) and dual wielding for the big boost to life on hit or using a 2h. I only have 900 life on hit, so you really don't need THAT much to make it viable. I started doing this in act 2 with about 35k health, 6k armor, 750 life on hit, and 30% crit - all self/follower buffed.
You can go two routes to make into the fray work for you: 1) use an axe/mace with weapon master, and get gear pieces that have a little crit on them. I used to do this at the beginning of act 2 at ~35% post buffs - 10% weapon master, 3% battle cry, 3% scoundrel. Or 2) use a mighty weapon and still have about 12-15% crit post buffs. I've had a mighty weapon since the second half of act 2 and into act 3. I really do need a better weapon and this would become much easier, mine is 650 dps with 400 life on hit, no slot or other good stats, but I'm cheap and don't play the game that often to farm up millions of gold (refuse to buy it).
The reason you don't need a lot of crit to keep it going is because the shear number of hits you do per second with both the cyclones from Sprint - Run Like the Wind and Whirlwind.
On Skills/Passives:
When I start feeling like I'm lacking some survivability, I'll swap Inspiring Pressence for either Nerves of Steel or Relentless. Inspiring Pressence is nice, though, for the life regen if you get in a pickle. You can just sprint away and heal up a bit before rushing back in to whirlwind around.
Bash - Instigation is just personal preference. You could use Cleave - Reaping Swing or even Frenzy - Maniac (I actually want to try out Maniac back in act 2 and see if I can keep it up to 5 stacks while whirlwinding, yay dps), but I like how Bash knocks back so when I screw up and have to actually stop to use it when I'm in a big horde of mobs that's one less thing to hit me before I have the fury to sprint away again. Also, you end up using your primary quite a lot against a champion/boss/other single target with high health, which is what makes me thing Frenzy - Maniac could be useful.
On Gameplay:
A lot of the more difficult elite/champion fights consist of me sprinting straight at them, whirlwinding through them, go about 20-30 yds past them, turn around, do it again. The extra 20-30 yds is only necessary if they hit me for very much and I need my sprint cyclones to heal me up to full.
Trash is just a joke easy. The thing about sprinting around in circles whirlwinding a giant group is that you don't get encircled and get hit by 10 things at once. If you ever DO get encircled while being lazy or lag spikes (screw you blizz, making me lag in a single player game), you can simply whirlwind through them and leave a sprint cyclone right in the middle of them.
When you start noticing that you're at full fury even while whirlwinding and sprinting and your berserker timer isn't maxed out, just spam sprint and battle cry to dump some fury (it'll be back up to full in a second, literally).
*Edit*
Forgot to mention probably the MOST useful thing about this build and having Wrath of the Berserker up, literally, constantly (and no, not recasting it) is the immunity to CC effects, no more jail/freeze/fear. In fact, if you burst into an elite pack and get jailed before going berserker, just pop WOTB to get out of jail and start destroying them
I like this build, it combines two of my favorite DPS alternates (inf Berserker and WW with life steal D2 style). I've got a few questions though.
First off, do you know if WW is affected by attack speed?
I've had a mighty weapon since the second half of act 2 and into act 3.
I've read multiple sources stating that Weapon Master's 3 fury gained per hit does not work with WW. Can you confirm one way or the other?
You can just sprint away and heal up a bit
Didn't realize the tornadoes worked with LoH. Nice!
The reason you don't need a lot of crit to keep it going is because the shear number of hits you do per second with both the cyclones from Sprint - Run Like the Wind and Whirlwind
You have Hurricane selected on your build - did you intend to take Dust Devils?
having Wrath of the Berserker up, literally, constantly
Are you keeping this up for whites too?
Frenzy - Maniac could be useful
Don't see this one happening, Bash seems preferable since you are focusing on DPS not tanking. Unless you have crazy attack speed you're not going to want to stand toe to toe with mobs just to get your 5 stacks for a few seconds.
I'm a huge fan of this Idea, I'm going to try this out as soon as I hit 60....
THough I agree with Selefico, the Dust Devils rune may be a better choice, given the synergy you're already recieving. You could potentially use that if you ever had to stand and tank, maybe in group play? I dunno even then the ability to dash all over the place at just 5 rage more is still a nicer sounding option
First off, do you know if WW is affected by attack speed?
I honestly have no idea, I don't test things numbers-wise, I just switch to it and try it. I'll say that I *THINK* it is (even though it's kinda hard to tell when your screen is covered in numbers) based on getting a frenzied shrine and then fighting, it feels/sounds/looks like it hits faster
I've read multiple sources stating that Weapon Master's 3 fury gained per hit does not work with WW. Can you confirm one way or the other?
Correct, it doesn't work on whirlwind hits (that would be ridiculously OP). However, whirlwind gets some coefficient of the life on hit value, I'm not really into testing, but I can say that it's not nearly as much as just bashing. Also, the cyclones from sprint DO proc the fury on hit AND life on hit, but not every single hit (again, would be totally OP since they hit about as often as whirlwind).
You have Hurricane selected on your build - did you intend to take Dust Devils?
Nope, I like the mobility of Hurricane, let's me do the tactics I outlined in the gameplay portion with getting hit less each time I rush in to whirlwind, plus it makes more cyclones from sprinting while ww'ing. Also, if the elites are something stupid for standing and fighting like some combo of plague/arcane/molten/desecrator I'll run them back a little ways, sprint back towards them and do a quick whirlwind pass at the nearest guy and go back without going through them and all their annoying shit (if there's enough things molten/plague aren't a problem and I can just keep them in one place).
Are you keeping this up for whites too?
Act 3, yes, act 2, mostly, though I don't really bother most times on trash since I don't necessarily NEED the extra damage and dodge. But yes, it's more than doable to pop WOTB, finish a big trash mob, and sprint away to get to the next pack before WOTB wears off.
And on Frenzy - Maniac, I haven't tried it at all yet, and have no assumptions that it absolutely will work, but I'm interested to see if it can, if only on bosses (sprint - whirlwind in a circle - hit a couple frenzies - sprint - ww - couple frenzies - etc.)

Thanks! Definitely give it a try, it's WAY more fun than tank and spank / revenge spam / hope to heal enough.
Thing is though, I NEVER stand and tank - EVER. Hell, even on Belial I constantly sprint and ww along the inner diameter of his hit radius laying down five cyclones to hit him (which leads to not getting bashed by his hit combos), though on him is a perfect example of having to stop and let a combination of the cyclones and bash build up a little fury before going on another ww sprint spree. Also, screw that fight with lag spikes, so frustrating to do it perfectly and die to green bombs when you literally can't move...
Any video of this in action? Would LOVE to see it! :-)
Sorry, I don't even have any recording software on my laptop :-/
Though I might look into getting some tonight and take a little video of belial if the spikes aren't too bad (full disclosure - I do have to recast WOTB on him, when he goes all long-winded on you about some "true vision of a lord of hell" and runs out the entire damn timer). On second thought, I'll do Maghda, WAY less opportunity for lag-death.

hmm, interesting. I will try this out. It seems like the main artistic challenge of this build is making sure you generate fury fast enough to keep up WOTB
DPS is only 12k, resistances 610 minimum 820 physical (it's what you get hit most with) - buffed. When I started doing this in act 2 those were probably around 10k, 350 and 500, respectively.
As an FYI, WW itself does not have any coefficient for life on hit. It does work with lifesteal though. The whirlwinds from Dust Devils do proc life on hit i believe.

Thanks for the post, Gulaji. I tried this today and it's a lot of fun. My stats are similar, but I only run 30.5% crit with an Axe, but I can still make it work just fine as long as there are enough mobs for my tornadoes to hit. I do have one problem though: in Act 3 I find myself unable to kill some Elites before the super annoying rage timer starts to hit. Do you ever run into this?

Yea, I have started to run into that more, especially on extra health stuff, which is why I need a better weapon. If I run into that I go back and try to do better about keeping cyclones surrounding while mixing in some bashes to do as much damage as possible, but all's I can say for us is we gotta get more dps :-/. On the bright side that shouldn't be too tough from a 650 dps weapon with no strength or attack speed lol. Honestly right now my time is better spent farming act 2 more, and fortunately today I found a pretty awesome belt
Thanks. I'm able to farm almost any combo in Act 2 with my super boring tanking build, so I think I could probably do it just fine with this. I'm so bored of A2 though, really hoping that 1.0.3 hits next week so things will be smoothed out more.
This guy beat inferno solo with this tornado ordeal.
Hmm, I kinda like the idea of Leap - Iron Impact on there, though it does seem a little strange to have no primary. I guess with enough crit you just need enough fury to get going and then crit fury regen procs keep you going, makes sense.

I've seen contradictory testing by people (http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5730073157), and this is actually quite easy to test oneself, WW absolutely does proc life on hit, it's got a low coefficient though (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgAQWh3lS4ZUdGtaZFc3VGhxRXJzNWdISVZWeENoU0E#gid=1)
Hmm, reading this mid-farm, so I can't switch to HotA now, but I'll definitely give it a try later
