There are a lot of nice restaurants a lot of shows, like magic shows and the like, I imagine some amusement parks also. Pretty much a little bit of everything, although gambling is one of the largest attractions. The famous Cirque du Soleil is in Vegas.
Wow, I like those shots of the houses. Excuse my youngster Australian-ness ignorance but what do people do in Vegas apart from gamble?
Daemaro is right. Most locals avoid the strip unless there is a specific reason to go there because you never know what is going on down there that might turn an otherwise good evening into a crowded house. Casino's are definitely the entertainment hubs for the town, we have local casino's off the strip called Station Casino's a lot of people go to. Not just for gambling but because they put movie theaters, fine dining, bowling alleys, pubs, and all kinds of stuff in them to attract people to them. But if you want the really good entertainment then you will inevitably end up on the strip for that stuff, everything from being dropped off the Stratosphere, amusements parks, shows, dining, and the best shopping and cafes are all on the strip. Of course the most expensive stuff is there too so it's not a typical night out down there.
Off the strip Vegas is a fairly lack luster city IMO, everything here is a mirage, without out the development everything would be just sage brush in a damn desert. Spring and fall are nice but winter while not super cold is often uncomfortable and the summer is just f***ing hot, you find yourself staying indoors more than going out. Parks are typically empty during the day and pick up around 6 PM when the sun is just setting. What I still find weird after living here for 15 years is the slot machines they have in the grocery stores and the people who are gambling in them. No shit.
Personally I like fine dining as a night out thing, I've been to a number of good places but the best dining experience I've had to date as far as overall experience was at the Foundation Room at the top of Mandalay Bay. I took these with my cell phone, really was bummed I didn't bring my good camera.
The one thing I miss that use to be here was the Star Trek Experience until the Hilton decided to close it and get back the slot machine space
Sounds like a pretty crazy place to live. In Perth (Western Australia) we only have one casino! I remember my buddy saying he saw some really call bands play at the casinos.

Lol I'm glad even a local agrees with that, I thought you would get used to the heat. Coming from Scandinavia I could barely stand stepping out in the desert for more than 15 minutes. I wont ever forget that feeling of a wall of heat hitting me. I'm so used to the cold that I just cant take those temperatures very well.
Some do, IMO only crazy people, but maybe it's our Nordic heritage, genetically we just weren't designed for that kind of heat.
Your sig, I think it's the weird sexual innuendo of the hot body and the hot dog that get my attention, but then it gets all screwed up with the long arms and the eye for a head. It's right and yet so wrong

A horse walks into a bar.
The bartender asks: "Why the long face?".
The horse does not respond because it is a horse. It can neither speak nor understand English. It is confused by it's surroundings and gallops out of the bar, knocking over a few tables.
You just described Australia ! ! ! !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! ! ! !
I stopped by the lake near where I work tonight to get a couple water night shots and got shook down by these characters for food I didn’t have.
This little guy wouldn’t give up and kept packing at my lens
Somehow I managed to get these despite disappointing the ducks
LOL Nice. +1

"WHERE have you self defecated?" would be more interesting.
In other news:
It's the day that the first fleet landed at Sydney cove in 1788. It's an excuse for Australians to get drunk and be racist.
