So instead of investing the time to get gear with dps and MF on it instead they want us to just buy crap pieces with max MF and hit a swap key to swap all our armor till we reach the max paragon level?
Thats the intent right? To only swap till your maxxed at paragon?
Because theres nothing in the notes about not doing this, seems confusing their encouraging swapping and discouraging getting DPS + MF.
Why do they prefer us to swap than have DPS + MF till max paragon?

Normal MF is already capped lower then max paragon. You will stop gear swaping before level 100. Hell once you reach 200 mf which will be around 66 paragon, chance are most people wont bother gear swaping much for 50-70 mf.

282%MF with zero valor/buffs/no swapping --- But with templar
307%MF with zero valor/buffs -- and swapping one item and having a templar.
So I go over 400% with valor/buffs currently and with just swapping one weapon I already am over the MF cap of the new system.
So yea i dunno why you think the old system had a cap, it didnt.
Heya, I am in the same boat as you with my DH. My gearset is amazing with 281% MF with templar and before NV. It caps at 300 (BEFORE NV, so max of 375%) so I would be at cap at Paragon level 6...
But it isn't that bad as you think and I will explain you why. I was also bummed when I first saw it but then I realized few things. First of all, trash mobs dropping 4x more magic/rare items. That alone is already enough to discourage mf swap. Some of my best selling drops were from trash mobs since they drop at least ten 62+ per my Act 3 farm run. It's going to be 40 items now instead.
Second thing is...new legendaries and the rush that will happen first several weeks about them. People like you and me with good mf set are in prime position to get the best out of it. While mf swapers will lose a lot for not getting trash drops (most of my legendaries came from trash) and the rest will lose a lot for not getting even the small part of legendaries we will get...you and me will be the ones getting and selling a lot of them and making huge profit during the time EVERYONE wants new legendaries.
Also getting high Paragon levels will take...months. Even for dedicated players. You and I will still be able to sell our mf gear nicely while we replace piece by piece as we are getting higher Paragon levels.
All in all, as long as you rush in and you're very active for first few weeks of 1.0.4 your investment in MF gear will pay off big time.

I already changed topaz to ruby in my helm so I droped to 252% with templar. 87k dps without SS, decent hp and resistances. Rubies skyrocketed so I was fast enough to buy one as soon as news came out.

Yea as you can imagine/experienced with your very similar gear set that good drops are common with 350%+ MF and I think the first 3 weeks are going to be rather epic in terms of trying to make back what we spent with our gear.
Farming enough legendaries this early on could potentially get us our loss back but damn its scary knowing that im going to have to pull a seriously hardcore week next week to earn before the market floods.
I honestly dont believe there wont be some exp exploit to get you to 100 paragon levels fast within the first few weeks because well...theres been exp exploits since launch and after playing MMO's since they were just in text format I know players be crafty =P .
But yea we hopefully have 3 weeks to a month to put our gear to use before it needs to be sold to retain some sort of value.
Frankly just wish there wasnt a hard cap and they just reduced magic find on all items by 50% like they did with the IAS nerf.
Least then we could still strive for max dps + max MF gear =P, but alas they dont want us to have fun that way which I guess is fair enough considering its their game and I guess they can do what they want with it as people like you and me are without a doubt a minority.
I am not afraid about some people potentially abusing some things and getting faster levels...most of known things are nerfed to the ground already. Even if they will find some places to level up faster I don't think anyone will be level 100 within a month, not even close. And even if somehow magically they manage that in the meantime I will be farming loads of legendary items while they miss out the initial rush.
I would also like to be able to get 700% + mf but if you think about it in the long run and about item saturation...in 4-5 months or so (presumably that's when hard core players will be level 100 and that might be like 5% of the entire player base) it won't matter any more, everyone will be running around in a good gear more or less. It's now when it matters when there are new items to pick up and demand to be met. Profit to be made. Later on you can just relax and enjoy the game.

You lose 7% MF with the new system, and then only when playing solo, which in other threads you state you group. Why is this breaking the game for you?
Also Neph buff has only ever given 75% bonus. So your math is wrong somewhere. 305% + 75% = 380%.

Because with 100 paragon levels i gain nothing with gear thats already rolling in the game.
I lose 300% MF that everyone else gets who didnt invest the time to get DPS gear with MF on it.
If there was no cap I would have no complaints as I could strive for 700% MF or at least making the system have a cap of 600% would reward those who are willing to spend the extra for DPS + MF on some slots which has always been the end game item tier on the market.
First off its impossible to hit 400% mf. Second you cant reach 300% before NV unless you gear swap to a mf weapon. There was already an MF cap, its what the max possible gear could give. If you dont gear swap to a shit mf weapon, you would win at paragon 100 over now. If you did you lose 5% mf. So its actually hurting gear swap more?

First of all you can go over 400% with a templar and yourself using 25% mf ilvl62 weapons.
The cap by max MF on gear you can have makes perfect sense(current system as you mentioned) and allowed people to strive for 350-400% with valor and/or follower.
All this does is remove the MF bonus of paragon for anyone who has already got sufficient dps to farm act 3 & 4 with MF gear on.
People with this gear should be at 600-700% at 100 paragon levels as they invested the time to get gear with good enough DPS + MF to farm act 3/4.
But obviously blizzard and yourself sadly disagree and prefer caps to limit end game builds.

OK Sure, there is also a max DPS in the game, yet Paragon will give small passive bumps in DPS in the form of stats, so in theory someone may someday, even if they arent at the cap now, may come against the current cap in the future. So what right? They can just sell off that pesky 1293 DPS 1h for a 1067 one, right? Fact is its only the two most important adventuring stats that will suffer this fate.

DPS cap is not something you can as easily reach as mf cap, especially with gear swapping. Both are not even remotely close. Either way this discussion is moot, the changes are live and their intention is to remove mf on gear, so we all been warned for the next months.

You miss the point, its not the current cap thats the problem its the one their implementing.
So if they implemented a DPS cap of 200k then you may as well sell your 1200 DPS bow for a 1000DPS one if u got good enough gear.
Its irrelevant want the cap was before for DPS in that scenario much like it is with MF now as you can always get better DPS on your max MF Gear to strive for the best farm set possible!

I dont think you understand why they added a cap, they dont want people to gear MF. It was established in the blog. They cant cap dps, they want us to gear for it. Technically there is a dps cap, its just not reachable, its different for every build of every classes. MF cap is reachable almost eye closed if you gear swap. You have been warned with 1.04 blog of their intention for the future: Get rid of MF on gear in the long term. The mf cap does not stop your gear progression, since you can now drop mf and get perfectly rolled defensive and offensive gear instead. Improving your farm speed and instantly killing gear swap at high paragon.
Essentially right now with this new system they 'built' they entice the following
Run in full questing/damage gear and ignore MF on gear for fastest EXP gain. [has not been confirmed that +exp gear will work]
Use a macro hot key swap for killing blows to hit 300% MF cap
Run solo as MOST classes will be able to kill trash faster alone than in a group as most won't bring an extra 75% killing efficiency to the group to make up for the extra health.
Some may cite the "4x more magic/rare drops from trash mobs" as a reason to run MF gear all the time. But remember, they also said they're not increasing the number of drops at all just the quality thus killing say 400 mobs slower just to get 1 additional rare just isn't efficient thinking. Goals now are cap out these Petragon levels by killing stuff as fast as possible and just macro gear swap for maximum loot. If you think about it, they did address gear swapping in this method by essentially saying "yes, it's fine. Look, we encourage it now."
If you think about it, they did address gear swapping in this method by essentially saying "yes, it's fine. Look, we encourage it now."
If you think about it they didnt change anything about it period... nothing in those change improve gear swap more then it does already. It just means as long as you level you can gear swap less pieces. Gear swapping was not given a single extra perk it didnt have.
Hate to come in and mess with the discussion but this is similar enough to the discussion going on in the other thread it can probably be discussed there safely. So because the other thread has more replies and is older, please continue the discussion in this thread.

I thought they were going to solve this issue, but Paragon hardly touches it.
Paragon highly promotes gear swap ---- not to sell my gear short before others realise but...
Selling my 250mil of MF gear and instead swapping in 1-5mil of blue max MF gear is going to be sooo much more rewarding.....
So yea gear swappers won the war, i lost big time lol....
