Just wondering if anyone has any info on the Diablo 3 soundtrack, like who's working on it (Matt Uelmen maybe?). I've obviously heard the main theme and I listened to the New Tristram theme the other day. So far I like what I hear (not exactly on par with what I loved from D2, but still good). Also, does anyone know of any other tracks aside from the ones I've mentioned? I might be one of those few game music inthusiests who is more curious about the soundtrack than anything else in the game lol. Mostly because I'd rather not spoil any of the surprise with the story and whatnot.
No, Matt Uelmen is not involved in the soundtrack to Diablo 3. A very hairy guy named Russell Brower is in charge of the project for Diablo 3. Blizzard must be very comfortable with him, as he did much of the work on the soundtracks for all of the World of Warcraft expansions thus far, as well as the Starcraft 2 soundtrack. He first became famous by composing music for the Animaniacs, and the Batman cartoon series. He is an Emmy winner!
Much of the soundtrack preserves the sound from the rest of the Diablo series, including borrowing some of the old tracks (the Tristram theme for instance) with some modifications.
The main theme (the Overture), and probably some other tracks, were recorded by Eminence Symphony Orchestra, from Sydney, Australia. They are big on video game music, anime soundtracks, and film soundtracks.

Thanks for the info! I really loved what Uelmen did with the D2 soundtrack, but I've heard the soundtrack from SC2 and some tracks from the WoW expansions and I've really enjoyed them. So I have faith in this Brower fellow. I look forward to hearing more from D3.
I don't know what you guys saw in matt ulemen's work so much that he gets praised a lot. The only music i remember from D2 that was memorable was the Tristram theme, everything else was so so or I forgot...
Even the music that matt ulemen composed for Torchlight didn't feel all that great me.

Tristram is obviously the most well known song from Diablo, and most people would probably say it's Uelmens best track (hard to disagree). But I really love the music he did for LoD. The soundtrack is only 5 songs (about 24 minutes), but it's so creepy and so epic. I would always listen to it while reading Diablo novels lol. I'm nerdy like that
