April 13-17 I've discussed it with blizz already (in my dreams:))
I agree with this Because if Blizzard announced the release date in February, It will need two months to prepare the distribution and the final touches in the game and probably the game will be released in April 13-17.
May 11th, with absolutely nothing to base this on! It was actually the first date that randomly popped into my head the day it was announced to be Q2. Can't wait till i'm running around with my demon huntress
This may sound like a stupid question. But i am not anywhere in the realm of working in the games development field. Does this game seem like it has been in development for a really long time. I kind of thought it should have been ar release stage by now. I understand the basic stages of development, from concept to reality, but it just seems like its been a long time. Also the fact that Blizz seem to be fairly laclustre with their new releases for WoW, and SC2, is the workload at Blizzard that much, that they let their existing moneymaking games slip?
I hope im not too confusing here. Its been a long day and im so very tired.
got a friend working in a gameshop ( belgium ) hes a great diablo fan..
He said 12/12/12 lol in his computer that date was settled , could be earlyer but he didn't see convinced??
hope hes wrong !
Sorry to say this, but he's full of poop. No retailer knows the release date before we do. Period.
Is anyone else concerned with how long this beta invite is taking? It started early September and we are approaching early March which would put us at 6 months of beta testing. Mr. Wilson said the release would be about 6 months after the beta began. Since he is a blizzard employee and he used the word "about" we can assume it will be longer than 6 months, but by the time these last beta contest invites go out we still wont have a release date. I was looking at other blizzard games beta testing times and its longest beta rounds were during the testing for WoW which was over 8 months. WoW's beta testing being so long makes sense because it is an MMO with probably the largest online world in MMO history. Diablo 3 has many moving parts and a real money auction house to consider, but more than 6 months for a game that houses 4 players per room is interesting to say the least. There have been major games changes, but whats going on? What the hold up? Whats "game tunning" mean!?

Might as well add my guess. 31st of June as this is the end of of the 2nd quarter business wise. Would have been earlier like end of March if not for the Rune changes. The fact that beta keys are still being handed out is concerning and still have to test the auction house.
June or July release more then likely, end of q2 beginning of q3. Unless they find more wrong with the game programming and have to redo a huge batch of code, which could happen. Or if they like watching us suffer which i doubt. A guy posted above about not paying for wow so they have to make some profits with d3. I hope d3 isnt like wow, but im sure glad the mastermind that made wow so much fun is making d3 that much more fun, even if it has some wow qualities.
Ok, heres my constructive theory. And I'm not trying to attack blizzard in anyway, I just think these things have something to do with the delay, or at least make it easier for them to take their dear sweet time. Which by the way, isnt necesarily a bad thing, and its their right to do so if they want. I believe Blizzard is not in any hurry for the following reasons, and I just want to be open up front, this is all obviously speculation and no fact. And I still love Blizzard, and all of their games.
#1. First off, because they want to put out a great game, thats always been the case and is a no brainer, but I believe there are other factors as well
#2. WOW annual pass and WOW as a game its self. The last thing blizzard wants to do, is compete with its own game. You can argue all day that its a totally different genre (MMO vs Action RPG) etc etc. But the fact is, how many people have you hear say on forums they are going to stop playing wow when Diablo 3 comes out and make the switch? Cause I've seen a ton! This is a logical reason, as a business decision, for wanting to delay the game and milk WOW as long as they can.
#3. Pride which has led to indecision. The only logical reason I can think of, explaining why they want to make things so much different from D2, is because the current team didnt work on D2, and I believe that some part of them wants to prove they can make a better Diablo game without using the same system. I think later on down the road they kind of realized that some of the things they've decided to throw out, were indeed large factors in D2 and D1 being so popular and now they just cant decide on something. Although after recent weeks it really does seem like they are zeroing in on their vision finally. But year after year, just saying "It's ready when its ready" was starting to scare me, because if you dont have a vision for what you want, ready when its ready could turn into forever.
Anyways, that is my theory on the delays. But all things considered, I am guessing the game will come out around Christmas.
Considering MoP is likely going to come around years end and Blizz (at least in the past) shown they don't like releasing titles close to one another. I think it's safe to assume D3 will be pushed out at the latest in late May/early June. But another part of me says Blizzard secretly likes doing this stuff on purpose and will hold out till June 31st just so they can say they stayed on target but make people wait. (at this point this things been in development so long there's 0 reason it shouldn't of been in our hands already) But yeah Late May/early June I think... if this goes on much longer I have a feeling activision will finally intervene and say enough is enough.
Only reason I put the MoP factor in is because come hell or high water they will get that out this year. They'll want to get D3 out in time to give potential buyers time to play it and not be overshadowed by its beta and hype.
Keeping in mind that Q2 2012 is the first official planned release window, and the fact that they just rolled out what looks to me to be the final iteration of the skill and rune system, I think April isnt completely out of the question. Remember that they have been working on the new skill and rune systems likely for months now and only patched now because they are satisfied. so that's it, there's no new systems to be added and they really are just polishing the game. I don't think they're going to push it to the bitter end of Q2, I think they were being conservative to give themselves a little breathing room. Just my opinion but that's my gut feeling.
do you really think they would release the game before summer? i dont know about you guys but i spend alot of that time outdoors not inside. but i live in bc and spring would be a perfect release. its slushy and cloudy outside. perfect for gaming
