I disagree! I'd say it's a huge buff because it does 255% weapon damage total for the same amount of arcane power that the old version of 130% weapon damage did. That means that if you use several of them simultaneously that will most likely be more damage rather then if you only did one at a time. You can afford the same amount of blizzards on one full pool of arcane power but the total damage should be higher (English is not my main language but I still hope you get the idea here)
Blizzard sucks because I'd rather use Ray of Frost (Sleet Storm Rune) to get 200% per second damage compared to 32%. It's the same reason haunt just got a big buff. DoTs in D2 aren't that useful unless they do a ton of damage per cast. It's much better to kill something quickly. A dead mob does no damage to you. I could see blizzard being useful for the slow to help kite, but the damage is pretty low.
The change was a change... it wasn't a buff or a nerf. Positive=It does more damage per Arcane power spent. Negative=It does less damage per second.
except it didn't lose any dps. It was a straight buff. The total damage was doubled and the duration was doubled. It is now no different than if before the patch you cast a second blizzard right after the first one ended, EXCEPT it only has the cost of casting the blizzard once.
There is no way you can construe this that it is a nerf or a rebalance. It was substantially buffed. End of discussion.

The end damage wasn't doubled though. That's why it's a partial nerf.
You're right, it's probably a net gain, but it's still a low dps skill. I was just shocked to see one of the lowest dps skills get nerfed DPS wise. I can see it being used in an Inferno kite build (I'll probably include it in one of mine), but using it for it's damage probably isn't the best idea.
Come to think of it though... the longer duration will be pretty nice for kiting.
Templar
General
The non-hired version of the Templar has been buffed and will now deal approximately the same amount of damage as the hired versions
WTF does this mean?
Does this mean the Templar will go back to doing more damage or when you first get him before he's a follower he now does the damage he does when he becomes a follower? Hoping for the former.
Yes it isnt for region restrictions. I never said it is for that. It is for restricting the localization. So if you are from LA and buy the LA Version (that is cheaper than the US version) you are restricted to the LA localization. Its there to prevent US player to buy the cheaper LA version and then simply download the US client. On the other hand that means if you buy the cheaper LA version you cant swith your language. So if you are from LA and want to play the game in english you have to pay the higher US price.
Well im paying 60usd for the LA version, but i really hope i can play in english
edit:
yeah im allowed to download the english(US) client, so guess its ok, yay

The costs of the first and second Shared Stash tabs have been increased
First tab cost increased from 50,000 gold to 100,000 gold
Second tab cost increased from 150,000 gold to 200,000 gold
Monsters
The monster affix "Thorns" has been renamed to "Reflects Damage"
Jondar Poison damage has been increased
Yeow, that's some steep price increases. As for the monster affix, it's just talking about the display under a mob's health bar, right? Not the item affix?

All it means is that the quest version of the templar wasn't doing as much damage as intended. The hired version will remain unchanged.

1. With the increased gold drop it's not that bad. I had 60,000 gold saved up by the time I ran 3 Hardcore characters through the beta from levels 1-10.
2. That doesn't make any sense what so ever. He did 22-26 damage when he was a quest person which just about 2 shot everything he hit. Why increase it more?

I wondered about this too. I do not recall any monster affix called "Thorns". I don't even think there are any hidden abilities that monsters have to reflect damage. I hope that means it's a new affix we'll see in this patch.
Molster, you should perhaps clarify, that Authentication is obviously displayed only for people that actually have an authenticator attached their accounts. It's a bit vague. :]
Unless I made a mistake in this example hydra looks to be amazing
hydra has shit vision range...d2 hydra was good because you could deal with flaw by covering the screen with em...higher dmg per shot just increases the chance that the next shot is too much overkill...would rather less dmg more hydras...i definitely want you to be right and me to be wrong though...too bad we dont get to play with it

You probably had an insanely OP weapon for that level of content. The wep damage the quest templar did was horrible. Of course if you have a weapon way out of balance for the current content he's going to seem OP.

No I'm talking about before he becomes your follwer. He does 22-26 damage to each enemy. You can't change his equipment till he becomes a follower and when he does he has a 8 something DPS weapon on him. But the nerfed him in patch 14 so he does 15% of the weapon damage when he becomes your follower. I equipped him with a Rare club with 13.6 DPS and he did 1-2 damage to enemies.
So the question remains why buff him for when he's not being your follower? It makes no sense. He already did more damage when he wasn't your follower.
You people saying the WD didn't take a big hit? WTF are you talking about, every skill he does is below 100% dps besides plague of toads, spirit barrage and sacrifice! The Wizard has FAR superior skills compared to the WD with skills that go beyond 700% weapon damage..
I am still going to play the WD as my first class because I just enjoy it so much. I am just hoping Blizz see's something we don't from our beta pov.

Don't look at me -- all I was doing was explaining what the change meant, not the reasoning behind it. <_<
Ok they updated the Patch note to clarify:
The non-hired version of the Templar has had its damage reduced and will now deal approximately the same amount of damage as the hired version

WD looks like dot class with pets. dots variety means multple dots on a target and could cause funny things happening later in game were not seeing. There could be massive synergy going on between his skills. Hopefully this is the case because this coud be a reasion for the retooling so his skills are balanced better.

.../sigh. These threads don't give me the excitement anymore
