honestly, even with such high dps on my build, i still prefer doing mp5 and mp6 and i'm not even kidding. people been asking me how i amassed such numbers of legs (no frosties and the gang), well this is how i do it
off topic: also, i don't think people ever bother asking about the arcane smash symbol that's left on the group for a split second. seriously what is that symbol @_@
I prefer MP9. I tend to get legs in streaks where I'll get 2-4 per run every other run or so. The extra bonus item drop chance really adds up at high MP when killing a lot of trash. I also get more xp at MP9, but that's only a reason for those of us still trying to level paragon. I'm aiming for MP10 but I think I need another 50-100k dps first to make it reasonably efficient since elites take too long to kill with only 530k or so against elites.

what's your run like since from what i have been seeing all throughout the forums and videos and such, high mp = one or two places, repeat. as much as that's efficient, i simply find it utterly boring. sure i prefer alk runs or 3-4 places runs and it can be dragging but somehow i like that.
but then again, rng is rng. when i did that 4-hour leg race with 24 legs in mp6 a1, i could not replicate it anymore no matter how much i play. it's crazy
i have tried the one-two map runs and it's just not for me
Just want to report in as a middle of the road Archon and say I think the list is pretty spot on. I saw you guys talking about mp9-10 requirements, and testing mp2, and I figured some feedback in middle was needed. I'm at 257k dps, 375k ehp fully buffed and run MP6, but thrive pretty well in mp7-8 parties, which matches the chart pretty closely. Only thing I do different is run Archon - Teleport, but I honestly think it's better for total dps over the course of the run with the time I save using it.

I start in woods then manor to build NV stacks, then hit up fields and whatever caves spawn there (usually skip the mine though). Then I usually move to weeping hollow. The most efficient zone I've seen is the undead cave in Fields, which is about twice as good as the rest of the run, so it might be more worthwhile to just run fields and skip the hollow. I like the last zone though because it's a fun place to try and rack up kill streaks. My current record is like 500-560 as Archon. The mobs are also generally pretty easy for an Archon wiz.

I've always liked teleport and only recently switched to Improved to run higher MP. One of these days I'd like to do some comparison runs but for now it seems like I really need the extra 25% dps more than the teleports for speeding up runs, especially since I don't instantly kill most trash mobs. At lower MP it was great, especially with scramble, because trash died so fast and elites barely did anything. At high mp my recommended stats you have elites living 10-20s, which means 13-25s without improved. Trash dies in about 1s with improved but would take 25% longer without, and would also severely hurt the time it takes to kill those darn trees and beasts.
Pichipie and I, along with two others did 4x Teleport Archon on MP10 before.
It's certainly amazing in terms of mobility, but killing speed is drastically reduced. And because of that, survivability somewhat as well (less life returns, more opportunities for nasty elites to fight back). It's certainly fun, though.

problems i have with decaying crypt are the dead ends/backtracks (going as far as entrance to level 2) and sorts like that. it is a good place though
I run with ~337 Kdps and 509 k EHP (Fully buffed inc Archon)
Tested this archon again for the first time in many months, used to do MP3, now my gear is obviously much better.
What i did notice, and is perhaps not new to anyone was that ACT1 & ACT2 with these stats and MP7 worked like a charm, everything died very quick and nice, think i died once due to some silly mistake. Then i tried ACT3, and that was a complete difference, think i died like 8-10 times during a run (run=pick up 5 buffs and kill keywarden). So my assumption is that Act3 mobs are much more nasty then act1 and 2.
Conclusion: The table shows recomendations, but if you choose play act 3 and i guess act 4 then there might be so you should lower the level with one step?
That's a really good point, but where did you get your stacks in Act 3? I only really like Keeps in Act 3 as Archon. The more standard Alkaizer or whatever the route is called is pretty annoying at higher MP because of possible elite succubi, those teleporting demons, or various other ranged mobs. The mob density was also not all that great in a lot of those zones so I would have Archon fall off more often but in keeps I almost never had problems with it falling off.
In Act 1 most of the mobs are pretty tame, except maybe those charging bulls in Fields, at least in the zones I run.
I prefer MP7 for my wizard right now. I'm at 380k dps and 397 EHP. I can handle MP8 but it goes slow and seems less effective. I'd love to get up to MP9/10 solo but upgrades are expensive these days (without buying gold).
If anyone is ever looking to run the high MP's I'm on most evenings....dragin#1337

I cheat a little at higher MP because I swap to a SoJ for elites, which makes them easier to kill so you could try that on MP8. Just swap your rare ring for a 30/6 SoJ and watch them die like 20% faster You can swap back for trash.
Yeah, I've thought about doing that but most of the time I'm running with friends anyways so it isn't a huge issue. I have a couple pieces I switch for different MP's. I have a necklace with CC that I use at MP9/10 to proc CM more. The necklace on my character now is better DPS....god I've crafted so many.
phasebeasts; worse when elite/champ

soul ripper; worse with firechain, seriously

A1 problems for archon
savage beast; worse when elite/champ; far worse with burrowing leapers around

grotesque; seriously perma stun (knockback) >_< worse when elite/champ
dark berserkers; worse when elite/champ, far worse with avenger
disemboweled hulk; worse when elite/champ
I can definitely agree with that list. Those stupid Mollock's are half the reason I used to skip Fields in my Act 3 runs. Demon tremors are the other half the reason. Gotta love having a group of 4 swoop down on you, only to scatter in 4 different directions and start circling you while shooting fireballs like a machine gun. I eventually just stuck to Keeps 2 because there's no elite versions there and rarely non-elite version.
vortex has got to be the worse affix next to reflect damage against an archon. without teleport rune, vortex truly puts your ehp to the test. how many times have we experienced getting vortexed into a molten/stacks of plagues/arcane/ freeze bombs/etc etc? another reason k2 is the best for high mp due to corners corners corners. see vortex affix, position self in corner, get vortexed, stay in same place, cool
For MP10 my damage is to low? And my EHP is good enough for MP8?
Wish I finally have some luck with my craft, to gain some more EHP (and hopefully damage).
hmm why not set a threshold for your upgrades like stop for now and rely on crafting and farming or flipping.
yeah after the /tinfoil hat "intentional gold duping so blizzard can transition every GG item to rmah only" all gg items are there now and 3rd party sites. it's very demeaning if you ask me.

Unbuffed: 230 kDPS / 286 kEHP (~85.9% mitigation, but the armor buffs very quickly to 89.5%, rendering ~384 kEHP).
Saving some nasty packs (with speed, chains, dessecrator/molten and plagued), I don't die while out of Archon. Just for reference.
