Ancient Items
- Legendary and Set items will now have a chance to roll as Primal Ancient
- These items are much more rare than Ancient items and have perfect Ancient-level stats on all affixes, including the item’s Legendary Power
- Note: Primal Ancients will only begin dropping after a character on the player’s account has reached Greater Rift 70 Solo
- There are separate unlocks for normal and Hardcore characters, as well as Seasonal and non-Seasonal characters
- The stats on these items will be tailored to the character class you are playing when the item first drops
- Primal Ancient items salvage into 15 Forgotten Souls
Class Specific Items
- Now salvage into 3 Forgotten Souls
Greater Rifts
- Note: Existing items will not be affected by the following changes. Only new versions of the items will roll with the added Legendary power
- Demon Hunter
- Holy Point Shot
- Impale throws two additional knives
- Note: Each enemy can only be hit once per skill use
- Note: This change is still being tested and evaluated
- Bug Fixes
- The Legacy of Raekor

- Additionally, several quality of life changes have been made
- The frequency of several tilesets in Greater Rifts has been adjusted
- Caves, Keep Depths and Zoltun Kulle’s Archives will appear less often
- Stinging Winds, Festering Woods, Pandemonium, Tristram Cathedreal, Arreat Crater and Realm of the Banished will appear more often
- The Flooded Causeway and Westmarch locations will no longer appear on the first floor of Greater Rifts
- The number of Spear Throwing Goatmen and Skeleton Archers that appear in Greater Rifts has been reduced in certain enemy populations
- Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue that caused a specific enemy population of Triune Cultists in Greater Rifts to spawn the wrong ratio of minions
hmmmmmmmmmm
Interesting. Might change the name to "perfect Ancient" or something. Nomenclature is important.
Edit: Though tying drops to Grift progression seems like a dick move.
caves and keep depth LESS OFTEN
I hope this is not another lie from changelog that will never come true in release.
Also the last line about Triune Cultists - is it a fix of the best set in current patch or what? I'm 100% sure that cultists-summoners in this set are called Foul Conjurers. Mb it's not that fix :hmm:
GR70 Solo to 'unlock' Primal Ancients? Another nail in the coffin for the seasonal crowd.
Have some brainstorm sessions, smoke some pot, but please scrap this Primal idea.
"Note: Primal Ancients will only begin dropping after a character on the player’s account has reached Greater Rift 70 Solo"
Just admit that you want paid streamers to get the best items and make it pay to play. This is so BAD.
gr70 is not so hard, it's just requiere a few farming for stuff and paragon, peoples nowaday do gr90+
but the thing that is not correct with primal is they are too near equal to ancient items, they should have better max stats, its not like they will drop each day
Diablo 3 is a very easy game. It appeals to alot of players that can't properly play video games.
Trust me, I don't want to be rude but I got several friends (I like them but they can't play) that can't handle 75-80 solo and, when I look at their gear/paragon/whatever they could hand me their character and I finish almost 90 w/o fishing.
The fact is depending how much determination someone is willing to invest into the game the GR70 requirement locks some of those players out.
I think that's a really bad thing.
But tbh, someone shouldn't even argue since if Primals will go live as they intended now they are not really a new tier of items. Someone can as well forget about those.
As of right now they are like nothing else than usual Ancients...
And btw I was doing Grift 70 solo on HC like 3 days after season started, so it's really easy.
we all have same builds, legendary gems and now exactly same stats, i really wanna play the game but blizz makes it harder and harder with every new patch,
IMO it is not about whether or not it is easy to clear a certain grift level, but whether or not people would have the time to get to the point in which they are able to do it. Not everyone who plays this game has the time to devote every season to play long periods of time to get geared really quickly and start pushing grifts. Whether it is life keeping them away, or a myriad of other online games they divide their time playing, not everyone will play Diablo 3 constantly. But gating something behind a pretty decent time commitment, you are effectively shutting out players from a good portion of gear every season who might otherwise enjoy playing them with their buddies, in the small amounts of time they might have available. Sure, given enough time, any player can be geared enough to clear a level 70 grift, but with the short lengths of seasons, and the busy nature of some people's lives, they might not get to see them drop in a season.
Swing and a miss again blizzard, strike infinity.
cave map = remake, sewer map = remake, cave maps have always been terrible, make these maps wider and fill them up or remove from game please. Still getting a lot of very small floors and also still getting same floors back to back, sometimes the same floor three times in a row.
If players want the Primals, they're obtainable in non-seasonal. This is in consideration for players who don't allocate as much time in Diablo as some others. Of course, not everyone is going to play meta classes. Correct me if I'm reading the patch wrong, but it should just take ONE character to complete GR 70 in order for Primals to start dropping for all characters. GR 70 is actually not that difficult to accomplish if you're playing non-seasonal, because you will eventually get there. However, if you're playing seasonal I can see why it would be difficult, but if that's the case you should be playing the game frequently enough to be competitive anyway. Your analogy is not entirely accurate. It's more like hiding the $100 bill on the third floor while you're on the first and if you have to climb the stairs a bit to go look for it.
Frequent players appreciate the end to their grind, while non-frequent players complain about having to grind more (even when they don't play very much in the first place).
EDIT: Also, Primals are just nice to have. They're not significantly different from normal Ancients. So it shouldn't be a problem if non-frequent players on seasonal aren't getting them anyway. It's *mostly* the abilities on gear that makes a build competitive, not the raw stats (which is literally the only thing Primals are giving).
If they have better stats, then it becomes a requirement to have them to stay competitive. They were initially going to give Primals increased stats on Ancients, but instead changed it to perfect Ancient stats instead. I want to believe that Blizzard is trying to cap the power creep and give the players an end to their grind for their best in slot, which I welcome.
