Good to see that they buffed the wizard sword to 8. However, I still don't think that archon has enough horsepower to do well in GRift pushing. I'm thinking that 100% would be a decent compromise.
I mean really, 300 to 30? wtf for starters wiz isn't pushing an absurdly amount higher than dh right now, so 200% would be fine. 30% is like....crap, people still don't use it. Look at wiz firebirds, it got a huge increase but it's still shit. Only good vs elites.
Live archon bonus is currently 20%. They raised it to 300% with the first ptr 2.4.1 build. It was way way way too big a buff, so they lowered it back down to near, but still a buff to, the original bonus of 20%, giving it a 30% bonus. If it's too weak again, they'll probably bump it up to 250% or 200%, then back down to 50% or 100%...up to 150%...
This is just how Blizzard balances, they test both extreme ends of the spectrum first and find the happy middle in the final build pushed out.
Fret not~
have you people even looked what else changed for the archon set and the skill itself and its runes?
even staying at 30% bonus it will be the best solo pushing set for wizards again.
- 6% dmg for each stack now multiplicative
- improved archon bonus dmg from 22% to 50% (now multiplicative)
- vyrs 4 set from 1% armor/resistance/attackspeed to 1,5% for each stack
- remember the 50 stack belt since 2.4 !
for example running with 200 stacks (without improved archon and archon skillbonus) equals to a 1200% multiplier x 4 (+300% attackspeed) = 4800% multiplier.
I mean like wtf?
30030%, and your Armor and resistances are increased by 150%. / Each enemy killed while in Archon form increases your damage by 6% for the remaining duration of Archon. What the actual f**k... a tenfold nerf in one sweep ? I really hope they change it to less dramatic numbers before patch goes live...
As a wizard player I was dreaming with archon really shinning next patch... but ptr is ptr...
in addition... i haven't played the PTR recently but the buffs to the defense of archon seem to be really big. also the dmg output of mobs above grift 70 have been tuned down.
i can't even imagine having problems surviving.
as someone already stated. just wait and see what the final numbers will be. At first sight it just seemed to be a reasonable change for me.
LOL, hate to be "that" guy who complains about everything.
BUT, sounds like a bunch of the posters above have never played a D3 PTR anytime recently. Did everyone forget what they did to Jade last PTR and a half dozen other sets? There is a REAL possibility that Archon stays like this and doesn't get buffed again. Of course anything is possible but assuming they are going to find a happy middle is giving them way, way to much credit with how much work they've been putting in the PTRs the 3-4 seasons.
