Beta Key Contest #2
Welcome to week 2 of the DiabloFans Caption Contest. Each week, we're going to have a screenshot to show and your job is to add a caption. Whether the caption be epic or completely for the lulz, we don't care! We'll choose the best one or two entries each week and they'll be granted a Diablo III Beta Key.
To edit in your caption, you can just toss this image into MSPaint or any other photo editing program, add a few thought or speech bubbles, and go to town! You can then upload your screenshot to your Gallery here on DiabloFans, or any other image sharing service you choose. This week's screenshot is...
Submissions can just be posted here and you are allowed more than one entry if you like! These will run Saturday to Saturday, every week for the next few weeks. Winners will be picked on Saturday and the next screenshot will go up.
Congratulations to Calavera666 for winning the first Beta Key caption contest.
For some reason the soup nazi just called out to me.
you know i saw a bunch of entries better than mine. That winner was not one of them... I'll just wait for Blizzard's invite or game release.. no point wasting my time here. <_<
Id like that one haha, funny!
Refusal to understand is something I will never accept. I fully understand what you are trying to say, and my stubbornness only exists where the knowledge of truth is obvious. The monster having a heart on his face was simply to exacerbate that purpose of the content, not to signify anything in particular. The face itself was the focus of that particular object. It's not like I consider a heart on the monster's face a revolutionary and original idea, not even in the slightest. The reasoning for it exists within the premise of the entire concept. Why do you continue to emphasize the fact that it "can be done in this print or any other"?. That is not relevant to judgement of the quality of an entry in the slightest. It doesn't matter that it can be done by anyone who chooses to do it or that the idea can exist as a generality, what matters is that it was done in conformity of the original idea and in a creative and attractive manner. You cannot rule out an entire set of ideas because their premise can be duplicated in a variety of ways. That is the whole point of the contest; to take an idea and make it special. Like the nerf bat reference, and the Aladdin reference, and the caption changing mid transformation. Yes these ideas exist in a world that may be deemed generic in conception, but the quality of the implementation and the overall content, creativity, and displayed effort are what stand out in the final product.
Unfortunately, I absolutely agree. During the first contest, when I was browsing through the entries I thought, "wow this one is great" or, "haha, awesome, very creative and a high level of skill" or, "damn that is pretty funny lol". I thought, these are the ones that have the best chance. These are the ones that I can guarantee will make it into consideration.
Now when I look at these new submissions I think, "that's pretty funny, nothing special, but hey, it has just as good a chance at winning as EVERYTHING else!" Nothing stands out in the slightest. However, every submission that looks like it took longer than 30 minutes is immediately disqualified. It's an entirely subjective and unfounded judgement call that you are just as likely to appeal to as you are at winning a random raffle. It has literally become a win-by-chance "contest", if it can even be called a contest. As I said before, your best chance of winning now exists by submitting as many mediocre entries as you possibly can, and hoping that one of them appeals to the judge's unfathomable interests.
My initial shock, anger and confusion, has transformed into amusement at the unbelievable choice for "best of all submissions". If I wasn't still so disappointed, I would be laughing.
