This may not have much to do about Diablo 3, thus far, except Warcry tossed a catchy question at Travis Baldree, asking his opinion on the Art Direction of Diablo 3. This was his response.
Warcry: Just for fun, what do you think about the discussion swirling around the "tone and color" of Diablo 3?
Travis: Personally, I think what they've done with Diablo 3 is fantastic. It seems pretty obvious that the mandate was to make the game look like a concept painting brought to life, and I think they've succeeded pretty wildly. The contrast and use of color really works well for an Action-RPG, where there are hordes of monsters and spells, and separation of individual entities is required for satisfying play. I can't wait to play it!
Blizzard is really second-to-none, and I have nothing but admiration for their work. I know a lot of people are lamenting what they see as a move away from the grim vibe of Diablo, but I think a lot of that gothic feel is really sold by a combination of sound, content and story, and the visceral nature of the game - and Blizzard certainly isn't skimping on the visceral if the videos are any indication. I also feel strongly that there's some pretty grim content they haven't bothered to show everyone just yet.
Or not?"
Exactly what I thought, especially since I've seen scores of posts say someone from Mythos should be in charge of the art direction.
Irrefutable shut down after irrefutable shut down continues to fall on every excuse and/or opinion of the petitioners, and each and every time they come up with a new one.
Here's my theory: When something is great, there will still be someone who doesn't like it, and often times it is 5% or less.
The petitioners are those 5% or less (Which is less than 1% of the total amount who will purchase it.)
This is what I haven't liked about all this mess from the beginning.
Stop being a pseudointellectual, shut your mouth, man up, and simply say 'I don't like it because I don't like it.'
These "reasonable" reasons are pathetic.
I'm well in comprehension that opinions are neither right nor wrong.. but millions against 50,000 vividly reminds me of the opinion, long ago, that the Earth is flat.
And coming up with "reasonable" reason after "reasonable" reason when each one is refuted to the opposite side of the universe and back, when the horse comes back atomized, only reinforces this fact.
Theory: The petition wasn't a gathering of 50,000 dissatisfied fans, but 50,000 trolls.
You, sir, just made my day.
I just remembered, you were that guy that joined and had atrocious pink writing that I couldn't read, and used all sorts of u vs. you etc.
Anyway, I don't much care either way. Screenshotwise, I prefer the fan-altered ones, but as for gameplay, I would have to play both to find out which I preferred, and it doesn't look like I'll get a chance to try both, does it?
Look I'm an avid fan of Diablo 1 and 2 and there's no one here that enjoy the gothic style of these games like I did, but the fan-altered screenshots don't bring back that feeling in anyway whatsoever. If anything it just look like someone turn down the light on the screen. They don't change the way the game looks (that is the style of the game).
Diablo 3 is going to be fine we'll just have to wait and live with it.
Look... this is no debate I'm about make but statements of fact, and anyone can treat it as a debate if they so choose but like anything else when they're all alone with their conscience and themself the true colors will show, which is the reason why those whom refused to sign the petition with a live oak tree as a pencil will just say "Amen" to my post and not bother arguing with you petitioners who don't have the discipline to resist voicing your errored opinions.
The statements of fact: Diablo III will be most fans' closest acquirement of a sexual orgasm. Period.
I don't care if you were the group of people who reacted like a kid told 'No!' in Toys-R-Us and broke the I-Beam with your keyboard in your residences foundation screaming absent minded shit like 'Unicorns and ponies!!!' when you saw the "Art Direction;" Diablo III will be most fans' closest acquirement of a sexual orgasm, including those of you whom know whom you are. Period.
=D
lolol great shit
The taste! It is irony.
Why can't we just enjoy the game? We've been told by Blizzard itsself that the color isn't changing. It's okay when this is simple debate but this is getting rediculous. Most of you just want to complain. two of the other three percent just want to defend something but don't have a worthwhile cause you won't get shot over. Agree to disagree, the game won't change. I mourn the loss of my sanity and reason from arguing over this when I first came here. Now it's just childish.
