Yay Diablo III! Although I'll admit, I had never heard of GameTrailer until the voting was announced. Love the latest Tyrael image to get the wallpaper treatment, too. :)

Congratulations to all who made it to the wiki shout-out! Personally, I am wishing there was a blush emoticon on this site because I really am feeling the "aw, shucks" moment.

Edit: Just want to point out -- and yes, I missed it myself -- that Nephalem is mispelled. ;)

Simplified tooltips have been adopted in the Game Guide. For each class, Simplified tooltips will display on in the Active Skills page. Individual skill pages, though (ex: Bash), will display the Advanced tooltip.
Wonder if that page'll have a toggle. Sure would be nice to avoid all that extra clicking, but I guess that's when I go find another site that offers a good compilation with advanced tooltips. ;)

Love the left banner, but the right... I can't like the one on the right -- despite the high-quality -- because the head and facial features immediately brought Rhonin to mind.

There will be the North America region. No plans for a split like that.
Good to hear. I don't plan on utilizing all my slots, so I'm rather pleased that NA won't be split up.

Some tooltips have a new background graphic as shown below.
    ... ... :?:

The new Completed Quest UI looks interesting, though.

But my main point was why they decided to remove the pets, who were working fine, just for their looks. As I said, why not just patch the looks later? I cant imagine removing the pets gained any time on their plans for the release, just seems a bit pointless to me, that is all.

Looks, no matter how trivial it/they seem, can surprisingly have a big effect on the game. I do not have the beta, but if Blizzard's post(s) are anything to go by, I wouldn't want utterly cutesy companions. It'd kind of ruin the mood.

Actually, thinking about that reminded me of this.

'Tis a shame. I love watching and reading about the stuff that comes out of Blizzcon, but if not holding one this year really will help them out with their schedule for releasing the upcoming games... /crossfingers

Proudly submitted my vote for Diablo III!

    Official Blizzard Quote:

Do Player 1 and Player 2 see the same loot drop, or the drop is individual for each player and only visible by each player...so Player 1 sees a legendary item on the ground while Player 2 sees some very useful crafting bones?
Loot drops are independent to the player viewing them. So player one might see the drop [Legendary Bow of Epic Awesomeness that Kills Things] and a few random white items, and player two sees a load of white items and a [Not so Legendary Axe with a Blunt Edge].

There is also currently no loot management in place in Diablo III. If you were player two and you wanted that legendary bow, you would need to talk with that player one and hope that they are willing to trade it to you for either a price or even for free if you are lucky :)

It is such a relief to read this. I get enough loot RNG on my own without needing to compete with others on WoW, so while there may be a downside to it... I am glad that there are separate loot drops.

Agreed. There must be an option to make the advanced tooltips default, as to not do so would be insulting to knowledgeable players and stunt the growth of a newcomer. So while it's nice that Blizzard is trying to be thoughtful, I think the people in charge could have gone about this whole matter differently.

So... Crimson only increases the LPS by 1 life? And it was this way even under the old values? That can't be right. <_<

I enjoyed reading IGN's interview with Aaron Williams. That being said, the last Q&A regarding (possible) tie-ins to the game has me feeling concerned. Blizzard tried to limit out-of-game lore for World of Warcraft so players wouldn't be left in the dark, and failed. Will it be a different story (pun intended) this time around?

On a related note: The guy in the background had me thinking of Penny-Arcade

    Official Blizzard Quote:

Also I sort of misspoke in that this change doesn't really affect build diversity, of course, all the same stats exist for people to stack or do whatever they want with. But it greatly increases item diversity.
I hope it didn't increase "item diversity" too much. I don't want it to be like when a person goes to a store looking for an item and then proceeds to be overwhelmed by all the brands on the shelves, to the point of becoming completely stumped.

    Official Blizzard Quote:

    Why Include White Items?
Diablo is about loot explosions. We can't realistically have loot explosions without a bunch of confetti and glitter that makes it all look exciting, but has no value except to make the explosions more satisfying. Gold still did this to a degree, but we were missing the "arrows and bolts" of yesteryear. White items were worth something and we really didn't have any junk we could just throw out with no limit. Now we do.
Yes, an argument can be made that there ought to be a reasonable amount of junk in a game. If the amount of trash drops is too large, it'll lead to frustration and people will feel spite towards Blizzard when they actually get a good item to drop (instead of any real sense of accomplishment).

    Quote from Doomscream
This time around the inconsistancy is somewhat made on purpose to make the Book of Cain seem more like a 'real' in-game item. Deckard Cain is not all-knowing and the book is not an episode on History Channel about the story of Sanctuary.
Yes, but most will be taking it as gospel because "hey, it's canon!" Whatever the case may end up being, you can sure bet it'll be a headache for DiabloWiki in some cases. :P

I assume I've missed something but concerning the white items... They don't want people picking the up and selling them, though they do sell, and if they see that a lot of people are they will nerf the amount of coin received from vendoring even lower than what it already is. If they don't want it looted, why make it drop?

Through a lot of play testing we have come full circle to the Diablo II methodology -- a lot of stuff that drops just isn’t worth picking up.

In other words, they tried to make everything useful in some way but that merely ended up causing dilution. So instead, whites will still drop but not be of any use. Then when something better than a white item drops (and there will be a lot of white trash), you'll be more likely to yell "eureka!" or whatever.

Take into account as well that for them it means needing to balance fewer items and the things may actually have better stats and effects than previously.

Hope that made some sense, even if you don't agree with their decision.

Right now, it seems too early to give a definitive answer to your question. The patch has been pushed back, so we'll have to wait a bit longer to be able to ascertain the change's effect (if there is any).

Personally, I would have put the potion thingy at the end anyway but I'd like to be the one deciding that, not Blizzard.
