We've seen things like 3.8mil DPS Monk killing Azmodan, but that's not DPS on paper, that's timed DPS.
This is the highest DPS on paper I've seen, and it's a Witch Doctor. I wasn't actually aware it could go this high. I figured the limit would be around 700k.
I bought it originally because I was a huge D1 and D2 fan. Then after playing a bit I realized D3 was completely static instead of completely random like it was advertised to be, so I lost a lot of my enthusiasm.
Since then I played to get my stats up in the hope that most random noobs I come across would be in awe of my power. After all, that's the real #1 reason for getting powerful in the first place. Unfortunately it has almost always been more viable for me to play single player, and for the foreseeable future, that will remain so.
Now I'm just playing to reach a certain DPS and then I'll probably play less, not quit entirely. It's more a case of playing out of boredom while I wait for the far superior game, Path of Exile, to come out.
I've found I'm having to stack quite a lot of "health globes and potions grant +xxxx life" on my main. I've got close to 30,000 healing bonus, but it's hurting my options to put better stats on those items.
So I was wondering, would it help to look for items for my follower that would grant "health globes grant +xxxx life"? Would those bonuses affect my main in full, or would the 20% rule apply, or would it have no affect at all?
...& getting your 5 stacks back when returning to a game you were disconnected from.
This does not happen. Yesterday I got disconnected and had to log back in to Diablo 3. I immediately clicked 'Resume' to play again and all my NV stacks were gone. I was out for probably 2 minutes at most. The stacks need to remain on your character for the full 30 minute duration, so if you kill an elite pack and get disconnected, and you can only log back in 25 minutes later, the NV stack should still be there.
Paragon system, along with the ability to play any act at whatever level I choose.
Double Legendary/Set droprate.
Health globe items now affect potions too (this is a big plus to me because I tend to focus a little too much on HP rather than EHP)
Infernal machine sounds pretty cool even though I have yet to have a key drop.
NV Stack affects chests.
Followers/pets don't attack goblins unless you're really close to them (this was annoying as hell)
Items below lvl 58 no longer drop in Inferno.
Legendaries/Sets beacon of light when they drop is awesome.
Still, one of the best additions was in patch 1.0.4 where various Legendaries had special effects added to them. I purchased Firewalkers pretty quickly after 1.0.4 went live.
Some people really dislike the absolute random nature of the game (see all the complaints about drop quality, legendaries and crafting being useless), we all like to have some sort of control.
I'm talking about level randomness, not items. If some people dislike level randomness then:
1. They're playing the wrong game.
2. Level randomness has not been done correctly and they would like it more if it had been done correctly.
For instance, you may not like dungeon randomness because it leads to dead ends. However this should not happen. There shouldn't be extensive dead ends, because there should be ways and means of going "beyond" the dead end. Such as:
1. Being able to knock a bit of wall down to progress further (more randomized level beyond)
2. Having a trapdoor or cave entrance nearby, allowing you to progress deeper.
3. A rockworm (assuming Act 2/3) attacking and leaving behind a hole after you defeat it.
4. Turn progression into a randomized event even, have a locked door that requires a set of two/three keys from the nearby area.
The reason Blizzard spent so much time developing Diablo 3 is because they completely focused on the wrong thing. They focused on making everything static. Had they spent more time developing better random level generators, they could have made the engine do all the hard work for them in the long run.
Proper randomization. Currently Diablo 3 is 95% static and 5% random. It should be 95% random and 5% static.
Take a leaf outta Diablo 1's book.
Everyone (especially random players in the official forums) seems to be scratching their heads, wondering why Diablo 3 was such a flop. They say it's lack of PvP, or the fault of the AH. It's neither of those. It's level randomization. Until the randomization issue is fixed, Diablo 3 will continue to be a sub-par game.
He has a point though. I stand next the vendor, identifying rares. Then I sometimes forgot to click on the vendor before I start rapidly right-clicking to salvage items. Suddenly, half the items I was wearing get swapped into my inventory, and I see my DPS and other stats taking a nose-dive.
The problem is that if I (or someone else) don't notice the stats changing and end up selling an item I've payed millions for to the vendor?
A simple lock/unlock worn items would be useful.
PS. Franna403 your 'mate' probably lied about salvaging the shield and either sold it or is planning on wearing it.
Yes, it wasn't exploitable, because it didn't work. You saw all set items lit up even if you just had them in your inventory, but you didn't get the bonuses of course.
Well this is news to me. I never played Diablo 2 online, I only played single player.
Also why would I be trolling? I want my character to be as powerful as possible for as little gold as possible; what's wrong with wanting that?
Well that sucks. Guess that basically means I'll never be able to afford a decent set and just go with normal legendaries. Blizzard should change it; it was surely not exploitable in D2, so there must be a way to make it non-exploitable in D3, such as limiting your character to 3 sets total.
Or just put no limit. If you can afford 7 full sets then you deserve 7 full set bonuses.
Let's say I wanted a high level set for the set bonuses, but I only wanted to wear one semi-decent item from the set.
Could I buy the rest of the set cheap (with poor stats) and just leave them in my inventory and receive the set bonuses from the single set item I'm actually wearing (like how Diablo 2 worked) or do I actually have to wear the entire set?
I get more than half my gold from selling blues/yellows to the vendor, so from my side it wouldn't make a huge difference, it would just be a nuisance. I'd end up only clicking on piles that contained more than 600 gold, give or take. With my barb I once got sick of dancing about and piled on 37 total gold pickup radius. It was glorious; pretty much any gold or health globe on the entire screen would be instantly gobbled up.
At least you don't have to keep your gold in piles of 5000 in your inventory like in Diablo 1, eh?
Is everyone just listening to their favorite music, or have you gone out of your way to find and listen to foreboding/horror/creepy music like in Diablo 1?
There was a discussion I saw ages ago on some forum about such music. People posted links to truly awesome foreboding/horror/creepy music tracks on youtube.
Diablo 3's music isn't scary enough and Diablo 2's music was a joke. Diablo 1, on the other hand - that is where it was at.
