lvl 60 set items drop almost exclusively in inferno (small chance in A3-4 Hell). All the set items below lvl 60 are craftables.

posted a message on zombie dogs - shared health?
Well it obviously doesn't take the minimum, because we don't see it jumping around when one dies. It wouldn't take the max because that would be useless. So I'm going to say it takes the average.

In closing, 2012 is shaping up to be one of the busiest and most exciting years in Blizzard's history. We plan on having at least 2 major releases...
At least 2 releases...My guess: Diablo 3, Mists Of Pandaria and HoTS?? Yours?

"At least two" definitely means D3 and MoP. The statement leads me to believe that HoTS is currently slated for late 2012, but might be pushed back.

It would be easy to MH the overworld, since the boundaries are not random. I would be surprised if we were to see a program that could MH dungeons.

posted a message on Summoning Vision Quest build

Looks good. I have one comment though: I don't foresee the gargantuan as a summon which is going to die often (unlike zombie dogs) so how are you going to keep the skill on cooldown (in order to keep vision quest up)? I suggest you rune gargantuan with wrathful protector instead, that way you will be forced to use the skill every time it's up (and therefore keep it on cooldown).

Won't you be able to cast the spell when the CD is up even if it still alive, just summoning a new one at full hp? If not, then Wrathful Protector would be the way to go.

    Here is my build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#bhPQfT!Weg!ZcYZaZ

Right now its really only good for groups, since it lacks survivability cooldowns, but man can it put out a lot of dps.

Most of it is based around keeping Zombie Dogs, Gargantuan, Big Bad Voodoo, and Fetish Army on cooldown to get the 300% increased mana regen from vision quest. Right now, provoke the pack seems OP, since if all your zombie dogs survive for 60 seconds, you can just explode them, raise new ones, and you'll perpetually have +124% dmg, and thats only with lvl 4 runes.

Firebomb is my spamming skill. You could choose any skill really, but firebomb looked the best to me. The idea is that you'll have enough mana through Vision Quest to never stop spamming it.

If provoke the pack ever gets nerfed, I would probably trade Sacrifice out for Phobia or Barricade.

posted a message on A few technical questions
    1) How much RAM is the beta client taking while playing in W7?

    2) Do different resolutions at the same aspect ratio show different amount of the world? (Can you see farther playing on 1920x1080 than you can at 1280x720)?

    3) How many cpu cores is D3 currently using? Is it possible to adjust the processAffinityMask?

    4) How does the game respond to Xfire/SLI?

posted a message on Rare and Champion Loot > Boss Loot
    Quote from Seluhir

In d2 bosses are harder than ALL champions. Because Champions have no affixes. As far as non-super-unique rares go there were really only a couple of combos that were even difficult. MSLE, con/fe/gloam+con... those are really the 3. Any other rare and there were THOUSANDS of other rares were really cake.

But no, if bosses are not at least PROPORTIONAL to rares then NOBODY will EVER kill them more than once per character. If you're saying anything else, you're foolish really.

I'm not sure if people are still missing some key points here.. But I'd like to get them straightened out anyway..

This is a quote from Bashiok a week ago
    Quote from "Bashiok" »
The goal, of course, is that with Inferno as a flat difficulty (all enemies are the same level) you should be able to go anywhere you like to get items, meaning not just rushing to bosses. To encourage that further, the randomized champions and rares that appear out in the world will have the best chance to drop good items, encouraging exploration and also feeding some of that *gasp!* feeling you get when you see one, and then another *gasp!* when items drop. Bosses tend to only have that second moment, and it's generally devalued over time due to the repetition.

So I think it is irrelevant what the relative droprate on bosses is compared to champions, Blizzard intentionally wants you to have no reason to go back to them for loot (There will doubtlessly be achievements you can go back for). This is also part of the reasoning by making Inferno a flat difficulty. They want you to go anywhere and everywhere.

Blizzard has also stated in the past that if people find "the best" place to farm, then they're going to do their best to fix the droprates so it is on par with everything else, to save people from monotony.
