Listen to this. You will probably hate it, but just know it was made in about an hour and not taken seriously in hopes that the fine folks at Blizzard will take notice and send me a beta key.

TheWeirdOne posted a message on Status in D3 "E-peen"In D2 I get personal sastisfaction from finding my own items. When I made a perfect Last Wish (I think it was) I was happy and excited about it. I did it all legitly, and I bought no items, I traded some items for items of same value, and I had some of my runes poof on me, but I kept going and enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun for me to get it, and I didn't care that someone probably bought it on a site for 5 bucks.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
That's your e-peen right there, enjoying the game for what YOU do. -

ScyberDragon posted a message on Activision/Blizzard's August Financial Conference CallPosted in: News & AnnouncementsLive Diablocast is Now Over!
The Recap
The conference concluded with Mike Morhaime's words that they're aiming for beta sometime in the third quarter. With the third quarter concluding with September, that means that, likely at the latest, we can expect beta to begin within a little over a month and a half. Unfortunately, no firm date for beta or release was announced. The team is still planning on a game release before the end of this year.
Conference Call Timeline
2:09 PST: Beta further confirmed for third quarter, and Mike restated team desire to release before end of the year.
2:07 PST: Mike Morhaime began talking about the Auction House feature, specifying safety and security as a reason for implementation.
1:38 PST: Beta confirmed for third quarter. More may be coming later.
1:33 PST: The conference call has finally started. Stay tuned to the Diablocast for all the latest!
The Buildup
Today is Activision/Blizzard's August Conference Call. We here at DiabloFans will be having live coverage of the event. We will be reporting any and all Diablo news released during this call to you guys. Force, Sixen. and myself (scyberdragon) will be holding a live podcast of the coverage starting at 1:00pm PST dicussing the latest Diablo news as well as listening in on the financial conference call for any new news. You can check the live cast from DiabloFans on Facebook, Force Strategy on Facebook, or the DiabloFans IRC Channel.
If the live feed is too awesome for you, I will also be posting any updates right here in this thread. The OP will be continuously updated with any news we get concerning Diablo. While it is unknown exactly what news we will be getting, it is more than likely we will have an update on when they expect the beta to begin.
If you missed the Live Stream, you can watch the recording below. We took a question or two, talked about our recent press trip, as well as our opinions on the major changes, switched to the Conference Call when they began talking about Blizzard's goals for Q3, and then had a small discussion before bringing it to a close.

Enty posted a message on At what point did this game become an MMORPG?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from Soulmancer
ALSO, D3 isn't a MMORPG, and if you think it is, you clearly don't understand the definition thereof
The line between what isn't and is an MMORPG is getting blurrier. No offline mode, one official server to rule them all, mods being illegal... That's mmo enough as is... Furthermore, adapting and evolving. That's a load of BS. This has nothing to do with games "evolving" This has to do with greedy companies looking for a way to make extra money.
Offline mode was removed and mods were made prohibited for the sole reason because it will interfere with the Auction House and reduce revenue. This is about money, not some evolving process where all games have to be online and strictly controlled under the guise of trying to combat piracy and preventing people from being confused by too many options.
You My good sir have no idea what you are talking about... Do you know what MMO stands for? I'll be nice and tell you since we are so negative. It stands for Massively Multiplayer Online. Which guess what Diablo doesn't have that sorry for bursting your bubble there. And you are also a bit slow on the piracy portion of games, It's seriously becoming like movies, Did you read about Gears 3 being Pirated already and it isn't even out. I am glad they impose these features because as an aspiring Game designer I need to be able to make money for what I do and the fact that you jip me out of my money blows some serious Dick. So kudos to all developers looking for ways to keep their income steady. unless you would want me to hike the price to 80$ so the pirateers can pirate and when you buy it for singleplayer use only then you pay shitloads more so i can sustain me and my families lives? Didn't think so. Mods, don't really pose a threat to me as I never really see a use for them I agree throwing them away is an odd idea but i personally have nothing against it. And The Real money AH doesn't have to be used, I will use the gold AH because I don't want to spend shitloads more money on games then i already spend. You people start bitching about everything and it is good to give them feedback, but when the consensus just says its all right, they won't listen to the minority which is what happened with the art direction and is what will happen with this. And to you saying it is evolutionary, Just please go look at D1 and D2 and how they REVOLUTIONIZED THE RPG GENRE. look at how every game after tried to copy diablos style in their own ways. All they are doing this time is Re-Revolutionizing the genre. Name a game where i can go play and have a skill then use an item and completely change the function of the skill. Name a game where they have no skill points but instead an easier more fun customisable way to play with the maximum power, which is what everyone wants. Stop flaming a gaming you've yet to play, just because you heard it will have a feature you aren't fond of. And if that really is the case then why not just not buy the game? That's what I do when i don't like features of games, I don't buy them, the Primary reason i won't be buying Mw3 or Skyrim. They bore me and are not fun. -

evilix posted a message on Normal, Nightmare, Hell and INFERNOI found this interview by looking at the source code of the page for the beta announcement of D3. It's a short interview but it has some pretty cool stuff, I'm not sure if it was part of the press kit or not. I'm also not sure why it's not available from the side menu on the page, maybe it was meant to be released later?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Interesting tidbit about D3's difficulty modes. Kevin mentions "hell and inferno" as being the games harder difficulty modes, I'm curious if it goes Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno?
This picture shows that Nightmare difficulty is indeed in the game. Four difficulty modes!?! -
