I was under the impression that the vast majority of players play solo? Personally I prefure group play so at the very least it would be nice to allow MP1 public games and then guage how popular that is and slowly open it up to higher MP levels like 1-3 soon after.

I imagine that gear quality would scale also so perhaps you could make Inferno Act1 have the same difficulty as Act3/4 and likewise have the same loot quality ie greater chances of ilvl 63's and Legendary drops. -

I suffered catastrophic loss of bladder control when I first laid eyes on it. I can only imagine the sea of gold after the smoke clears on a large trash pull using a GF heavy set.

You nicely summed it all up for me. This is exactly the way I prefure to play and could not give a rats about finishing the game using a sword'n'board Barb. Conan would laugh a thee whimpy shield users!

I have zero increased distance. View that a wasted stat, but thats just my own opinion.

My PC is a Core Duo 2.6ghz quad, 4GB ram, Nvida 580GTX all fully updated and running on Win7.
After doing some research I ended up buying an Intel 120GB SSD and once setup as my primary drive it cleared up all my problems. D3 appears to do some pretty crazy and intensive data lookups and it was primarily the far faster seek times afforded by the SSD that cleared up the issue. I should add the old hard drive was a sata2 1TB unit.
I even heard of people doing some interesting things like tossing the games install folders onto USB thumb drives and running the game from them. Remember its not the transfer rate, but the faster seek / read rate that clears up the issue.
Again Not sure if this could affect your issue, but perhaps even trying out the USB Thumb drive as a possible option for trouble shooting might be a worth a try.
