It's too bad that most members joining may have overlooked the older member's want to have serious posters.
I believe that was in the terms or conditions before registering, that diablofans.com was for dedicated members for the long haul.
The weeds will die out and there will be a nice new patch of green.

posted a message on Whats could be some Xbox 360 achievements for Diablo 3? (on the slim chance, for fun)
Considering the Starcraft port to the N64 allowed you to cast spells and coordinate all those troops, a game like Diablo could be put onto a console. Baldur's Gate has similarities with Diablo and that was ported pretty effectively.
Would I buy it? No, I'd play on the PC.
Someone mentioned steam achievements, if its the same idea go for it.

Xbox360 Achievements to me seem either really simple like each level completed or very ridiculous like GTA's pigeon thing.

Revenge (10) - Seek out and beat in a duel a player who had player-killed you when you were 10 levels below them or more.

That's pretty Low (5) - Pick up a fallen party members gold drop from their untimely death 100 times.

That's REALLY Low (20) - Keep denying it.

After reading todays news post what kind of crazy outlandish xbox 360 achievemnents can you think of.
Realistic ones are good too. :D

5 pts - Killed Unique monster (boss) with less than 5% of your character's health remaining.

I think the items ontop not moving down after a row clear gives it the affect of you selling all those items to merchants.

Great Job. I was looking into this because I saw the post too but WOW you did a better job than mine was turning out to be.

Btw what kind of scripting did you put on the items to rotate them like regular blocks... alll the tetris games I looked at had just squares that would generage the random shapes and that wouldn't work with your pieces.

posted a message on Different Room for Trading
Would having a seperate room for trading be an improvement?

    1. A trading room that's different from the regular room.

    2. Do all of the trading in the town, like before. With other people killing monsters.

    3. This could be good. I'd have to see Blizzard's direction they're taking.

    4. That's useless. I'm still gungho for D3 the MMORPG!

The discussion had started earlier in Multiplayer. Which style?

Blizzard could have the regular rooms for questing/leveling/killingmonsters. While another room can be simpler with maybe just vendors in a town where people can trade.

Have a massive trade room which could hold more people in the game because there would be less things needing to be loaded.

One central, open room, instead of the lobby (preferably a HUGE tristram) . In this room, players can trade, chat, and NPC. An openable menu should display rooms where players can join to fight.

    Also possible:
    1. Selectable 'Lobby-Towns' (Choose between Kurast Docks, Rogue Encampment, etc.). Rooms restricted to town you are in. Ill use a D2 reference. If you are in Harrograth, games for Izual will not appear. Only Baal, Bloodrunz, Ancients, etc.

    2. Servers. But instead of the same thing, make each server a different town.

I like the trade post idea though that is awesome!

So, start the game, click B.net, log in and select your lobby room. The game then loads up the engine and throws everything into ram etc.
Now, whenever you join a game, the load time will be significantly lower, therefore saving alot of time.

As for the environment, I would think it would be some kind of arcane sanctuary type deal. You could really expand alot apon this idea. Eg.

    Auction House,
    Mail,
    Account stash,
    Socializing,
    Trading,
    Showing off your gear!,
Finding games and creating games (eg. <NuZZ>[Town] LFG Mephy HELL)

Lawl, I think it would be awesome... I think it would make multiplayer alot more engaging, plus I love the idea of less loadtime, leaving more time to game. Tbh, this lobby area could also have some branches to an infinite quantity of PVP arenas.

If it will be MMO, it means it will have lag, bad graphics etc. so i want classic D2 style.

The detail of the diablo universe, and what was shown in the current videos out it makes me think more and more that its rooms.

The chat channels are the open world, but in the new version of battle.net there could be some changes like seeing what people have equpied, etc. More of that element of mmos in the chat channels.
The game rooms being the instances from those channels.

I'd like to see the ability to click through your inventory in the chat channel to shift click on them and the item name goes into the chat window. So you could be trying to find someone to trade and [Item Name] can be attached and clicked on to see stats, etc. similar to regular in game chat of WoW.

posted a message on Helloooooo Everyone
    Hello everyone.
I'm a student hoping to get into any field that uses computer graphics leaning more towards magazine publication at the moment.

Not to many games were available for those really boxy looking iMacs that every school thought was the greatest thing ever. Blizzard games were the only thing I could play really but they were well worth it.

Played diablo for a few months. Got into Diablo 2 and have been coming back to it every summer after ending a serious dedication around the 1.10 patch. Almost everyone I played with left around then.

I've been waiting for something like the Diablo experience since then... the sad story of IronLore's amazing game TitanQuest was the best I could find. I couldn't take WoW or GuildWars. I've tested out so many free trials and free mmorpgs for less than an hour each and realized that they weren't any fun.
If D3 is released before I get suckered into Age of Conan after a few months of their bug fixes it will be a good time.

For the trade room I could see Blizzard making something really nice. Not just the town from different acts. (Are they doing acts still, I hope so). The golf game Albatross18 (Pangya) has this idea of trade rooms where you can set up your character make a mini-shop by putting your items up and putting the amount of gold you want for it. If someone comes by and wants the item, they buy it and you don't need to be there.

One of the few things I liked in my trial of playing WoW was the Auction house. Plus gold would be more important, with either of those implemented.

The player made games with choosing titles like "Anceints need WP" etc, really worked well. I've tried other action rpgs online and their systems were horrible compared to D2.

Me, personally, I would feel "dirty" using an item that has someone else's name on it.

I would think it would give items more culture and history.
Maybe skip the name and have "this item has been traded x many times".
An items an item, it still gives all the stats if its personalized or looks like a brown cap.

I used to only trade for unidentified items so that they'd be legit back when crap dupes were a plenty. Though Buyer beware should always be in your mind when trading.

Yes its a good idea and doable. For characters on the same account, well that's bank.
For multiple accounts... do we even know how many characters can be on an account?
Well for multiple accounts there can be a password system that both have to enter and verify.
If you liked using mules, Good for you. And I'm not to sorry that its changing.

Maybe instead of having either of the systems, an automatic personalization of the item.
    Inferno's Grandfather Sword
Like a bind name on equip so that people could know the item your using you didn't find yourself but traded for or was given by another character. But if it is yours it doesn't show.

I ran into someone trying to trade me a skulder's ire that was personalized with one of my first characters... that was kinda cool.

posted a message on Diablo III Producer Justifies Controversial Art Direction: Color Is Your Friend
Sounds like color is going to stay, even though "full of contrast" isn't the phrase I would describe the screenshots as.

Give me the option to play with the saturation and what not... throw the people who think WoW has a bland and unimaginative color scheme and style a friggin' bone.

Definitely no Bind on Pick-up. The way items flyout of monsters, its not like WoW.
With Bind on Equip I'm on the fence, but I really like using items I made on one character and bringing it to the next one and the next one. Sort of like a Grandfather's pocket watch.
The items being able to be shuffled used, given to people, gotten back is such a huge part of Diablo.
