posted a message on How many hours per day are you willing to fork out for D3
All depends when its released. I'm guessing it won't be released during the 2009 school year so if it (SOMEHOW) releases between April 2009-September 2009 then I'll likely play like a maniac for the first few days with my friends, doing the campaign co-op on battle.net until we pass it and then several hours a day. If it comes out (more likely) during the 2009-2010 winter season then as much as I can without breaking my schoolwork.

posted a message on MOAR PATCHES (loot upgrades)
Well I think they had DII successful and then after DIIXP they started working on a lot other things like Wc3 and later WoW so DII was left in the dust. D3 is going to likely sell more than Diablo II, will have a greater online following and with Blizzard's new MASSIVE success and expansion in employee and their iron grip on the PC game market, I expect to see a lot of patches to keep us playing. They got the staff to keep WoW running, SC 2 developing and Diablo 3 doing its own thing. They got over 3000 employees all over the world so this is a different time and I expect to see more patches.

I doubt they will release content patches ala WoW or any other MMO like that, but definitley I think after a while if the gameplay becomes stale, expect to see some additions made to the game that will increase its longevity. I also expect at least 1-2 expansions. Perhaps more.

I think that anytime a WoW-related feature is instated into D3, there is a negative connotation if somebody doesn't like that idea. Whether or not the dislike stems from the actual feature or the fact that its similar to something in WoW depends on the person. I understand MANY of you hate WoW here, and fine I'm not defending it, but there are a lot of good ideas in WOW that would work in Diablo 3. You can be loathe to admit it but it's true.

posted a message on What do you all hope the market will be driven by?
WoW is different because the mechanics of the game are meant for you to play extremely long hours to accomplish anything worthwhile. The entire game is a set of grinds. The only fun part is having a good guild and doing cooperative play in PvP or PvE.

DII had gold literally worthless and with no bound items, anything could be traded, meaning an infinite amount of items could potentially enter the economy with none of them being spit out (but they were due to players leaving, items rotting on expired chars, etc...) and I think it could likely be a problem if DIII gains mass popularity and then you have people flooding the markets with tons of items that have no way to be flushed out.

Gold should have value, but at the same time I think there is an allure to the bartering system of D2 where items were the currency. It was fun, even for a noob like me who would trade crappy items I got for free off somebody for more crappy items, eventually making my first IK set off nothing but grabbing free items and slowly trading and bartering. I was so happy back then :P

No, I didn't but its something I realized later on. And I also noticed that some of the warrior's feats/spells/skills take up stamina rather than Fury, thus not all abilities are based on an energy system, in this case "Fury". Whether or not this is simply an aesthetic change or whether the mechanics of Fury and Mana differ remains to be seen.

posted a message on Please, PLEASE stop the constant complaints
The problem is that the reason DII attracted a cult-following was its unique, gothic feel along with that infamous music and just feeling of darkness. The entire game was a very dark and gritty experience and people wanted that replicated in this new iteration. Obviously there will be complaints but this feels like a major change from the original and the "feel" of Diablo is one of the most important factors. If you notice, nobody complains about the pacing, the new physics system, none of the good stuff. People tend to focus on the bad and it APPEARS that its nothing but complaints, but for every complaint there are 5-10 people utterly astonished by Blizzard's creation.

It's too bad I didn't comment on the specific skills, damage numbers or any of those intricacies in my summary. I commented on the EFFECTS of the spells, like the particle shaders and how it looked visually, and most of my commentary was summarizing the video and commenting on small details I noticed as well as some of the stuff I didn't like, for example the mountain texture that looked like a bad matte painting. And stuff like that, the mountain wall, is something I expect the developers feel is finished. They wouldn't show us an incomplete version of the outdoor landscape. In terms of items dropped and that, of course it was scripted but that's not what I commented on. Before you call us morons, try reading a few lines. If it's too much for you, then skip on to the battle.net forums where you'll fit right in with the trolls.

You can't attribute the Stash to the Bank as MOST RPG's have some kind of item storage in town. I think that the stash should be potentially limitless, perhaps if currency is valuable in Diablo III then make it progressively expensive to buy more slots. In terms of thinking about it practically, I'm sure I could buy more space to store my stuff in if I had enough money in the Diablo world. Inventory space, however, is a different story. Here's a snap of the char screen with bag slots highlighted:

Good thing I don't take your tips on buying hardware. Shame you spent all that time giving advice that you wouldn't necessarily follow yourself.

    A little rude, no?

Firstly, the OP states he has a PC configured for approximately $900.00 which at the time of Diablo 3' release will be more than enough to buy 3GB of RAM as well as a Quad Core and a decent video card. When I bought my system, Quad Core wasn't out and the 8800GTX was the best card on the market. That's why my now almost 2-year old computer is going to still run Diablo 3 on max settings in 2-3 years' time.

Secondly, sure you can buy a cheap computer in 2-3 years that will likely be better than top of the line today but if you spend a little more, you can get a lot more bang for your buck and increase the longevity of your computer.

posted a message on the fate of charms?
I disagree Paladin. Even if the monsters were made weaker, you think that would make people ditch their charms? Ha! Now it's even easier for people to wade through hundreds of monsters with ease. I think stacking charms was another cheesy part of Diablo that they are going to remedy with D3. Not that the IDEA of charms and their use was cheesy but the fact that people would fill their entire inventory with them seemed a little counter-intuitive to the idea of them. I think that there should be a few slots for charms. I'd say maybe 1 Large Charm and 1 Small Charm to ensure you can't just load on any charm that benefits your character. At the same time, give them many different uses so there is some strategy involved in swapping charms for different dungeons, PvP, etc...

Haha @ the 3 people correcting his spelling. I think since he's plastered on the site and in the artwork, he will be a major part of the story. Check out the Story forum for our discussion on it.

Good to see a fellow Serb on the boards!

I don't play it personally but I certainly wouldn't want it removed. I know lots of people love it.

Agreed 100%. No reason to remove it. Yes it can be a frustrating ruleset of the game but at the same time, Blizzard gives ample warning about how lag, latency or any factors can lead to your character's death. I wouldn't do it but those who want to should be able to.

posted a message on Character look options or all the same look?
They haven't speculated on this but I don't think so. WoW's options were pretty limited for an MMO and being an action-RPG, character customization doesn't fall under the most important issues for this game. It would be nice but it doesn't bother me much.

posted a message on pvp discuss it
PvP in Diablo was fun but it wasn't conventional. It was artificial and lacked a real system. PvP will be a part of the game 100% but how Blizzard tackles it is still up in the air.
