Much like Terminator stayed true to it's "R" rated audience? As well as Aliens and Predator? How about how Mortal Kombat stayed true to its fans with an "R" rated movie?Quote fromI think I would cry myself to sleep every night if blizzard lowered DIABLO 3 to teen instead of mature.... this is freakin the diablo series.. please dont cheapen the experience of its true fan base because you want it to be more suited for a wider audience.
Like Diablo will stay given a choice. If they can "widen the fanbase" by lowering the rating, the rating will be lowered, and damned be all those who want to see a blood-soaked game. We can already see it in what they have shown us; the game is moving away from what its roots are, and it is "hoping" to keep the fans that it already has, rather than working to keep them. The whole thing reeks of Star Wars and the New Guy Experience...

I'm pretty sure that I won't like the health orbs though. It's too much of a pull from immersion.

The gameplay itself seems like it will be alright, although I don't like the inventory changes nor the health orbs rather than potions. I'm not sure about the skill bar yet, that remains to be seen.
The atmosphere is what I'm not sure about, and what worries me the most, as the atmosphere is what truely set the Diablo universe apart from the myriad of clones. The dark gothic setting is why there is still people out there trying to make a Diablo killer, as nothing can grab the people like Diablo did. Titan Quest came closest I'd say, but still failed. Diablo is just too engrossing. Based on the gameplay trailer however, if what we saw is what we are going to get, I am not going to like the final product very much, and is why we are hoping to change some of it before it hits the shelves.
Don't make Aliens vs. Predator out of Aliens...make Diablo III, and give me the atmosphere that goes with it. There's a reason why Aliens is one of the best movies made, and is on almost everyone's "must watch list". And there's a reason why AvP is on the opposite list. Don't make a Diablo III that is like that, that's all I am asking.

I see them charging for Battlenet 2.0 however, while the single player remains free. The only question to me will be will they allow LAN play. Yes: I will probably buy it, despite the poorer art direction. NO: Noc hance in hell then.

Which is a very poor answer. Diablo I and II were both modded, despite being "unmoddable". I would much rather see support for it from the beginning, much like the Elder Scrolls, or Dungeon Siege, or Titan Quest or Neverwinter Nights, or numerous other games.

I would also like to know the answer to this, as well as are the backgrounds seen in the gameplay trailer reminescent of the entire game, or can we expect more background scenery akin to Diablo's Butcher levels and such. I want to see people impaled on spikes, etc. The blood, the gore, the things that made Diablo so different from any other game. This one worries me with it's more "everyone" oriented look to draw in a larger market so to speak. Will my fears be allayed by the final product, or will this be more like Aliens vs. Predator in it's design, rather than Aliens?
