The xbox360 still has hardware failure, i know cause i own a broken one and still waiting for my new replacement.
By the time the new gen console comes out, HD DVD format is gone while Blu-ray is still striving. Microsoft will have no option but to use blu-ray. Don't be naive and ignore the facts.
That's not entirely true. I know several people who play on Non-Ladder that are casual players. They worked hard on their characters and would prefer not to restart (even better for them, they get first dibs on my Ladder junk after the resets ^_^).

like everyone said, wait. then drop that shitty gateway and build a new pc, that comp is probably too old for much upgrading. you can build a comp with a duo core and 2GB ram for $300 right now. In one year it'll probably go down to about $200.
$300 for a dual core and 2gb computer? I must be out of the loop or do you mean dual core and 2gb = $300 + more for other parts such as mother board and cpu.
As usual the xbox fanboys love to say that Xbox Live is so much better than the ps3's online network. But you still have to pay $50 dollars to play online compared to the playstation network which is abousltly free. The playstation stores offers games, demos, movie trailers and much more that have not even hit the media or the market yet. There are all sorts of free contents that playstation stores has to offer.
If the Xbox Live is so much better, than why do you have to pay and it doesn't make any game lag or disconnection free. And you have to pay for a wireless adapter for $100,ha!
Ps3 has the best exclusive games which includes MGS4, Gran Turismo 5, Resistance 2, Final Fantasy 13, and more. MGS, GT and Final Fantasy series have sold millions of copy world wide and its very popular in north america.
Even with the new system upgrades on the 360, there are still a number of 360 breaking down once again. Micosoft have done nothing again to help their customers and clients. The 360 continues to over heat and hardware failure. Have fun doing the "towel trick", LOL!
Blu-ray is the future! HD DVDs have already lost because Blu-ray have proven to be the better quality. The 360 will still be using the DVD format on its games and will eventually be forced to use Blu-ray. This is bad news to because Xbox will have to "Beg" get rights from Sony to use Blu-ray.
The ps3 was released about a year after the xbox360 and already taking over the xbox sales world wide. In 2009, it will be a FACT that ps3 will over take the sales from the 360. So join the WAR WAGON while you still can!
The PS3 maybe be expensive but you get more bang for your buck(i hope is said that right).

3. I've had 4 xbox's and not one has broken down on me 1 was my brothers and I had to sell mine twice because of money issues.
4. By the time Blue-Ray overtakes the market completely each console will have its next gen out and it wont matter anymore. Right now every gaming magazine says there is little to no difference between ps3 or xbox 360 games when compared.
