I disagree. It's a great way to make a character last longer. Such a character is not affected by new patches, since if new skills become great and others become useless you can always switch your points around.
It also greatly encourages experimentation, because you cannot make any long-lasting mistakes. People can truly test new builds to their heart's content then.

Of course there could be a limit to it, like say you can only move them around once a week or you have to complete a quest every time you want to move them around.

lol gamma11, just because it would be the same engine and all doesnt mean it would be the same game. similar maybe but not the same...imo i would like a game that seems like its a diablo game and not have a whole new feel.

Some people wouldn't want to update their software to play the expansion they'd rather get something new. And expansion wouldn't make near as much money and it deffinitely wouldn't please the fanbase.
