posted a message on For those who have liked what they've seen!
While I have my qualms I am very impressed with what has been done. The most underappreciated thing about this game is the introduction of PHYSICS. Did anyone pay attention to the bodies flying around the screen, rolling off the edges, sliding down slopes and transforming into bouncing bit of gore?

The new gameplay looks teriffic. It looks to be fast-paced and more varied than past titles. This is a welcome change as watching the paladin do a zeal attack for 2 hours was rather unsatisfying after a few years.

Point and click interface maintained, it did not morph into a wow skillbar click frenzy, the majority of your clicking is still on your opponent(s).

Dynamic terrain and more complicated traps add more depth to the game than ever before, while some agree that the art style is less dark, one can not argue that the gameplay has followed the same route. It is darker than ever. The gore is magnified and the pure horror of some of the monsters is well done.

Hack and slash maintained, it is you vs the world as it should be, which in my opinion was the greatest appeal of the past diablo games.

Skills look magnificent, the fire blast on the Witch doctor has a soul erupting out of it as it explodes, very well done. The locusts leave only bones as they devour their victims and the minions exploding is very satisfying.

Overall I am very excited about this game, but I feel it is my duty to say that the visual feel in some areas was my only concern. And before flaming me about this, look at the many positives I gave before the negative. I don't hate this game, I love it.

My question... why are so many people offended by suggestions?

What are the chances Blizzard is reading all your complaints here instead of working? They said they are trying to bring back the Diablo feeling so I'd be surprised if they didn't at least put the dark atmosphere in the right places. You're complaining about the darkness, yet Act 1 of D2 didnt really have alot of dark colors unless it got dark or you went into a tunnel. At best, for me, D2 color's can be described as monotone and it just seemed dark because they really didnt use bright colors and it just kind of annoyed me after a while seeing the same colors over and over again. So what if it does look a little WoWish, at least they ARE updating the graphics.

So stop being a little griefer and just wait, you can bitch and complain about it not being dark if or when they show a dungeon that doesnt have the right atmosphere. They arent even finished with the game for god's sakes.

Well if this were any other company I would expect complaints to go unheeded, but this is Blizzard. In case you are not aware, blizzard hires people who's job is specifically to interact with the community. While I know this isn't the blizzard forums, I expect they at least taking a glance at it since it still is the first site in google to show up when you type diablo 3, not to mention it has a link from the official site. I make sure to post on the official blizzard forums as well, as I think a lot of people have a problem at this point. Now I am perfectly aware that we saw very little about the game. VERY little. But hey, from what we saw, some are concerned, and how is it hurtful in anyway to voice that? Is blizzard going to take the game away from us... no. Blizzard is concerned with how people enjoy the game, they are concerned with what we think.

On a side note, I fail to see how I am a griefer as I really am only posting suggestions, not boycotting the game or sending hatemail to blizzard. I'm sorry if that offends you somehow, but perhaps if you had a reason why it should remain the way it is as opposed to the proposed changes, we can have a discussion and you can enlighten me.

I know it will be a great game, but what's the harm of telling people what would make it an even better game, I mean surely there are things about even diablo 2 that we would ask them to improve as we could. There will never be a perfect game, but why not try to get as close as possible? While I see that some of the complaining is a bit... well almost offensive, I do not see anything wrong with people making suggestions as to how to improve the game. People had complaints about the brightness of starcraft 2 as well until people suggested that the game be darker. Blizzard listened to these suggestions and made starcraft 2 look a lot better. I don't see anything wrong with that type of thing. Unless you have a reason why it should look as it does now, I don't see how these suggestions are in anyway hurting you or the game.

4/5 While I love the new gameplay I can't help but notice the complaints about the graphics and I do partially agree.

And for those that are hating on the people with complaints, we are not trying to ruin the game for anyone, we are trying to voice our opinions so that hopefully it can be changed and the game can be as great as it can possibly be. Also, even if it weren't changed, other aspects of the game do seem to be on par for me. For instance, the gore factor really reminds me at points of the original diablo.

posted a message on Bored/looking for game
Basically, I can only return to diablo 2 every so often and only for a certain amount of time. I am currently in the middle of one of those phases and I need a game to occupy my endless amount of time. Any suggestions on something great? I already have half life 2, half life (and most multiplayer games associated with it) Call of Duty 4, Battlefield 2, warcraft 3, starcraft, unreal tournament 2004, Lord of the rings BFME2, and probably some others that I can't think of now. Also, if you have any of the games you suggest, notify me. Actually if you have any of the games I listed notify me if you wish. Perhaps we can play to occupy my endless amount of time.

Lol, sounds like madness, but that's alright. We're all insane. Ya, the name showed up in my 7th grade horror story and has since followed me from game to game... when they allow that many characters at least... lazy programmers. Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome.

I am new here to the forum, but have been waiting for diablo 3 for quite some time so I thought I might as well join the, seemingly shrinking, diablo community. Anyway, hope to see you guys around.

I remember the canisters being called plasmids that mutated your DNA to allow you to do certain things. For instance, one gives you control over electricity. Besides, even if it were heroin, are you saying that if somehow it were the only way for you to survive, you wouldn't use it? Many games contain alcohol, but if I remember correctly, it actually affects your performance in the game adversely, and therefore treats it as a hinderance, there more for comic value than anything else. The game deserves high praise for it's unique story mixed with gorgeous graphics that are only augmented by the unique art style. Basically, I consider it a work of art as I do most great games.

posted a message on Update on the unannounced MMO!
Hey, new to the forums, but I couldn't help signing up and putting in my two cents. Personally I think that it can be a MMO very effectively. I've never really played mmorpgs, but if they departed from traditional grinding and put in more hack n slash the game could be excellent. While I fear the monthly fee as much as the next seasoned diablo veteran, it may be the price for next-gen gaming these days.

As for the comments about being able to solo diablo, this can still be done easily, in fact blizzard did it in diablo 2 already. Basically, the difficulty of monsters in an instance can be scaled to the amount of players in the instance. So, if you want to go in there alone, you can do that and come out victorious with diablo's ear. Or, if you wish to have large-scale warfare against him, get a group of forty, and he can be scaled up to be an even beefier foe. As these are instances, it can vary from party to party. They did this in diablo 2 where monsters grew stronger as more people joined the game, I fail to see why they could not do this for instances in an mmorpg. Anyway, just my thought.
