We'll soon see if the Wizard will be the go-to class like the D2 Sorceress for doing magic find runs. Depends how Teleport: Wormhole will function.

Been first hoping and then waiting for this game since LoD came out.

Working from home, so got that covered. Also got one of those magic pills left from my college time that easily keeps you awake for 24 hours (yes it's legal but not widely known, was used by military pilots to augment performance). And of course a nice stock of more or less healthy food and beverages.

Reading this just got me much more excited about playing a demon hunter. Although I believe going for the full 75% increased movement speed is too much. Basically by doing this, not only do you sacrifice your entire pool of discipline and have to be focused solely on your movement rotation, you also have to stay at full hatred to benefit from that little extra 15% movement speed from Hot Pursuit. Personally, I'd rather switch Hot Pursuit and actually use my hatred for some killing between all those vaults. I'd consider using something like Perfectionist (-10% disc cost) or Nightstalker (chance to gain 1 disc on a crit) if I feel I need it to keep up with the vaults, along with 1 dps passive. Otherwise I'd just go with 2 dps passives...

As for the dps part, I'd use something like Chakram - Razor Disc. My understanding of it is that this rune allows to target a location and make the chakram spiral out from that location. Basically you aoe down the pack by rounding them up with vault and your run speed, and once they're rounded up you spam chakrams in the fray between your vaults. Perhaps also using some version of Bola shot is my hatred gets too low.

For champion packs, I'd just use Hungering arrow with whatever rune turns out to bring the most single target dps, which remains to be seen. Also using vault to keep them at bay.

The final build would look a little bit like this, although I haven't thought much about synergies and I might switch the ferret companion for Mark of Death - Valley of Death if (actually very probable) the ferret companion attacks, gets attacked and ends up dieing all the time. I haven't thought much about dps skills/passives synergies either so I'm sure this could be improved upon alot, but I do see great potential in this. http://us.battle.net...WeVT!aXe!bbabYY

That's why I said out of combat ;) It's a build meant to travel fast from A to B.

WHEN WILL THEY FIX THE DAMNED BOOK IN THE INN?!

I want to read it. :(

Isn't that because you already read it when it dropped somewhere outside (don't remember exact location, but I think the book name was identical)?
no, the book in the inn does not work in beta, my guess is...for a reason.... LORE MOAHAHHA =/

Oh I see, that would make sense :P

Regardless of how that particular rune for Vault works, there's still an issue with your calculation. Focused Mind does the following: "Gain 45 Discipline over 15 seconds instead of restoring it immediately." So it doesn't add +1 discipline per second to the default +1 discipline per second - it's a 15 second interval where you get 3 discipline per second (assuming the regeneration rate is even over the whole 15 seconds, which is probably a safe assumption). You would still have 30 seconds until you can use Preparation again with this rune where you would only be generating +1 discipline per second.

Also, I don't understand where you are getting the free 75% movement speed from. The build you posted has only two things- Vault and Preparation, both un-runed.

Yeah I was aware of that. But it doesn't matter if you get 45 DP in 15s or in 45s (after which Preparation is up again). So you can look at it as 45 DP every 45s or 1 DP per second.

Or in other words, during a 45s period the DH generates 45 DP by default. If you cast Preparation + Focused Mind every 45s you get another 45 DP. Together that's 90 DP at your disposal every 45s. Casting Vault every 2s (45 / 2 = 22.5 times) costs 22.5 * 4 DP = 90 DP.

This rune only works for the 2nd Vault, the 3rd Vault will be 8 discipline again. At least that is the way I understand it.

That's gonna start a debate similar to the Teleport thread :) No way to know for sure until we have the game in our hands.

The way I understand it is that if you haven't cast Vault for the last 6s, it's gonna cost 8 DP. Then you have 6s time to cast Vault for 4 DP. If you do, the cycle repeats, giving you another opportunity to cast Vault for 4 DP within the next 6s.

@ dro0x: Where are you getting the +2.8 AP per second regen from Prism? Prism reduces mana cost of spells, it doesn't increase your AP generation.

You're right. I really should read the skill descriptions more carefully, had +7 regen in mind. So with constant Prism usage that would be:
    • 6 seconds of: 5 AP (Teleport) / 14 AP (regen) = Teleport every 0.36s
    • 9 seconds of: 12 AP (Teleport) / 14 AP (regen) = Teleport every 0.86s
    So on average one could teleport every (6s * 5 AP / 14 AP + 9s * 12 AP / 14 AP) / 15s = 0.66s? Not sure if I can just take the arithmetic mean.

As it is Prism only lasts 6 seconds. Without Prism, your AP regeneration per second only exactly equals the cost of Teleport (12 AP), and you're not going to be waiting exactly 1 second in between each teleport or you're going to end up accidentally triggering the cooldown. So you're still going to drain your AP pool, albeit slightly.

If your attack speed allows you to teleport twice per second, you're going to be -12 AP in the hole each second, which allows 10 seconds of continuous teleportation with the help of Astral Presence. It's nice, but it's hardly enough for solo runs.

EDIT: Forgot that Astral Presence boosts AP regeneration by 2 per second also. So that means you can teleport for ~12 seconds. Considering you can already teleport for nearly 7 seconds under the same circumstances without wasting space on Storm Armor and Arcanot, which are pretty bad, I hardly see this being worth it.

You got your numbers wrong (Teleport costs 15 AP) and didn't factor in the default AP regeneration rate of 10 AP per second. Also Prism isn't even needed for free Teleports every second, only for every 0.51s. It's all laid out in my first post ^_^

I don't get numbers wrong. Teleport is 12 AP with Power of the Storm, which was in the build that you laid out.

    Teleport: 15 AP - 3 (Power of the Storm) = 12
    AP Regeneration: 10 + 2 (Arcanot) + 2 (Astral Presence) = 14 AP / sec.

This allows you to teleport once for free every 0.86 seconds. If you DO use Prism, it reduces the teleport cost down to 5, which allows a free teleport every 0.36 seconds, not 0.51 seconds. That being said, Prism is not a long standing effect, so it's kind of useless to take that into consideration. So we're back to 0.86 seconds.

The hard part about this is balancing your teleport speed between this lower bound and the 1 second upper bound. If you teleport too fast, you start draining AP, but if you teleport too slow you slam yourself with a 15 sec cooldown. As I said in my post, if we assume your weapon speed allows you to teleport exactly 2 times per second, thats (12 * 2) = 24 AP spent, subtracted from 14 AP gained, for a net total of -10 AP per second. With 120 AP thanks to Astral Presence, that allows us 12 seconds of continuous teleportation.

So while yes, theoretically we can teleport indefinitely, we would need an incredibly slow weapon to do so. 0.86 seconds is an incredibly long cast time. Nothing in Diablo 2 had cast frames that low, even with 0% FCR, with the sole exception of necromancers in vampire form (full Trang Oul's set).

Looks like you're right, my bad. I could have done it much simpler:

15 AP (Teleport) - 3 AP (Power of the Storm) = 12 AP costs per Teleport cast

    10 AP (default regen) + 2 AP (Arcanot) + 2 AP (Astral Presence) + 2.8 AP (Prism)
= 16.8 AP regen per second

    12 AP (Teleport) / 16.8 AP = Teleport every 0.71s
    12 AP (Teleport) / 14 AP (without Prism) = Teleport every 0.86s

After discussing the free Teleport build in my other thread (http://www.diablofan...ort-every-051s/), this one is all about maximizing the DH mobility out of combat.

With the following build it's possible have a constant 75% increase to movement speed for free:

    http://eu.battle.net...er#..dV!aW!..bY

As long as you have 8 Discipline (DP) to cast the initial Vault, the subsequent Vaults will only cost 4 DP.

By default the DH generates 1 DP per second. By constantly using Preparation + Focused Mind, you eventually get 45 DP during its 45s cooldown or 1 DP per second to make things simpler.

This results in a 2 DP per second regeneration and exactly covers the cost of Vault when cast every 2s.

yeah i mean if its a team based game why make teleport like that they would want to stray too often and get owned by mobs

You probably wouldn't use such a build in a co-op game. But for solo farming it could be very nice, for instance to quickly look for events on the map. Could also be useful for pvp.

Yeah we'll have to wait until the game ships to be sure, I'm just guessing based on the rune description and video Antirepublican posted (seen it before). If it doesn't work the way I think, then DH will have the best continuous mobility (out of combat) .

Still nice to know such a free Teleport build is feasible (not counting any AP items). IMO shows how flexible the skill system is.

Hey guys, I've been trying to find the class/build with the most continuous mobility and I think the Wizard wins (DH is 2nd, Barb is 3rd).

Casting Teleport + Wormhole costs 15 AP. Using the following build, we can reduce the cost to 12 AP and generate 14 AP per second:

    http://eu.battle.net.....QXTj!X!..ZZZY
    • 15 AP (Teleport) - 3 AP (Power of the Storm) = 12 AP cost per Teleport cast
    • 10 AP (default regen) + 2 AP (Arcanot) + 2 AP (Astral Presence) = 14 AP regen per second
    • 12 AP (Teleport) / 14 AP = Teleport every 0.86s
If one were to use Prism every time its cooldown is up, the numbers'd look like this:
    • 15 AP (Teleport) - 3 AP (Power of the Storm) - 7 AP (Prism) = 5 AP cost per Teleport cast
    • 5 AP (Teleport) / 14 AP = Teleport every 0.36s
    • (6s (with Prism) * 5 AP / 14 AP + 9s (without Prism) * 12 AP / 14 AP) / 15s = Teleport every 0.66s on average
Edit: Thanks to Nightmare13 for pointing out mistakes in my calculations, resulting in slightly higher numbers than 0.51s.

Just won a key from Raptr. Seems it was legit. :) Can't tell you how static I am right now.

Edit: If only the installer would speed up a bit... :P 240 kb/s will take all night to DL, and no way I'm getting any sleep...

Mine was slow as a snail at first, too (around your speed). After a system reboot it got to 5 MB/s.
