I've tried Diablo in Inferno about 60 times to no avail. I've got through about half of phase 2.
I run about
55k DPS with force weapon
21k HP - yup*
200 resists. ( I have no + resist weapon).
Most of my gear is high int and perfect magic find [whoop de do for Diablo]
I'm starting the battle with 30% health and running familiar with the rune that blocks 1 shot every 6 seconds. I'm also running teleport and frost nova. My goal has been to escape him and only get a true hit once every six seconds... Works okay, I can get to phase 2 40% of the time. I've been trying to avoid having to buy new gear, but I'm thinking I will.
I guess it comes down to this. How much Life do I need to get force armor to work for his melee attack [I am pretty good at avoiding his fire crap]. I can go half the battle without taking one real hit - If I can get to the point of being able to take more, I could beat him... thoughts? [PS - I know i suck]
If you put your stats into an EHP (effective health pool) calculator, I'd recommend stacking armor, resists and vit until you get to around 200k EHP. You probably have well below that so feel free to just upgrade a piece or two at a time and see how it works, the 200k is just based on my own experience so you could probably have less and still be alright, or get a little more to make it even easier. Vit will probably be the cheapest way to do that so you could play around with numbers a bit to find a target range for Vit, Armor, and resists. That's about the range I had and I could take a hit from anything and not get 1 shot. That plus almost 2k life on kill meant I could heal myself after getting hit by refreshing my hydra. I only had around 30k dps buffed when I killed him because once you can take a hit and not die, it becomes a very easy fight where you just try to dodge as much as possible and nibble away at his hp with hydra. Only had hydra and MM+seeker as damaging attacks.
I also used Blur as a passive for the extra 20% melee reduction.
Don't stand close to edges, and he won't teleport to you.
This is the most critical information you need for this fight.
Stay the heck away from the shadow clone
Don't get jailed, but even if you do just spam diamond skin and heal
Avoid fireballs
I watched the above video plus the kippi/kipparian diablo kill and was able to kill him while being pretty undergeared. Really just becomes an execution fight.
Had:
25k HP
400 resist
18k dps
Due to my low dps I just kited the shadow clones till they despawned and used diamond skin the second the boss despawned to summon the clone then teleported away because they can spawn and 1 shot you without the shield if it is the arcane orb clone. Also, I used arcane orb for my damage spell since it hits harder than a signature spell and you rarely have time to cast more than 3 spells in a row.
