early on i noticed that RoF and Blizz never crit ... although with gear and stuff i have about 13% crit chance ... when i switch some spells like Electrocute i can see the yellow numbers (indicator of a crit, right?) ...
since the tooltips of those two spells don't state that they cannot crit i was confused.
anybody can explain to me plz ?
Ray of Frost and Disintegrate do not crit (although Chaos Nexus can). I'm not sure about blizzard, but I wouldn't be surprised if it can't crit. Basically anything that is either channeled, or does damage over time, cannot crit.
I would think that Meteor could crit, although the fire couldn't. I haven't tested it much myself (since I run with all damage numbers on, not just crits). Right now Meteor is sorely underpowered for many parts of the game, and if it can't crit on impact that really needs to change.
DoT effects do not seem to crit at all, yes. Have not noticed crits from Meteor either. Just don't stack crit / crit damage at this stage of the game.
Did this even come up during beta? Can't believe no one noticed it.
In beta (Possible in live, but not sure) channeled spells could crit, but their numbers were always white.
interesting ... i noticed that sometimes my RoF numbers would be about 40-50 % higher, but it never came to my mind that it might be a crit ... i thought that it was the dmg range on my weapon that just get's lucky sometimes.
Edit:
Can anyone confirm that Critical Mass is able to procc from those "white" RoF Crits ?
