Based my toon off of the playstyle of an arcane mage from wow. get mad!!! ive played diablo games for almost 10 years now...i know my stuff.
that being said, lets move on!
magic missile - main source of arcane regen / quick spammer
arcane torrent - main source of single target damage
arcane orb - main source of aoe damage
familiar - buffs all damage (with a crimson rune, more on that below)
energy armor - main source of mitigation
teleport - main source of out
passives are :
glass cannon - damage buff
prodigy - quick arcane regen on command
astral presence - larger pool
so here is the run down. the familiar is used with a crimson rune to increase the damage of all your attacks by 31%. next i chose energy armor with a crimson rune to counter the loss of resistances from glass cannon, which increases all damage done by another 20%. arcane torrent has a crimson rune as well, which increases all arcane damage done to the target by 31%. now... arcane orb...the obliterater. basically this is going to be my most damaging spell, with a crimson rune increasing the explosion to deal a whopping 295% weapon damage as arcane. but in actuality its much, much more than that because of all my modifiers. basically it should hit like an 18 wheeler. now i know what you are thinking, im going to need lots of arcane power. and what about resistant monsters? well, first off magic missile is socketed with a golden runestone which increases the arcane power it regens by 5 per target hit. prodigy also increases the arcane power it regenerates. when it comes to resistant monsters, the increased damage of my arcane abilities is (in theory) going to be strong enough to still do significant damage. i guess thats why im posting the build, so we can discuss.
i do have one question though, when i socket teleport with an alabaster runestone, does that mean as long as i keep casting teleport i can spam it like in d2? (before it goes on cooldown of course)
Magic Missile (Golden) would change to (Alabaster) if you played D2 then you should know how well Auto-Hitting skills work Plus you have Prodigy which will give you enough AP on top of gear based AP/sec and natural AP/sec regen.
Arcane Orb (Crimson) would change to (Obsidian) because you WILL get hit and this will help dmg/kill/slow anything that has gotten too close!
Astral Presence changed to Temporal Flux. I think with Prodigy and natural/gear based AP regen you wont need as much of it as you have in your current build. Plus if you're going all Arcane than why not slow everything down as well
Hope this helps a little
