I'm not denying that, TCOE. Being in a clan is a personal preference. Some people would rather play alone than play with a group. Others would rather play with PUG's than fixed groups, it's all personal preference.
Personally for me, I enjoy playing with a group than playing alone. The multiplayer experience is what makes these games so great, in my opinion.
It is alot more fun playing with friends. But what's the point of adding any complexity to it? Why call it a clan? Why add rules? What do you get from adding a name, rules and complexity?
In my opinion, there is no point. The idea of a clan is tantilizing but there just isn't anything keeping it together. Atleast until Blizzard adds a reason to be in one. And I can't think of one good suggestion that would work in a game like Diablo. Except pay people to be in one or have clan only areas?
Because then you can show other people, "Hey, these people and I are in the same group. We have the same goals in mind. We aren't that other group that likes to PK people, we're that group that likes to help people. If you like our group, join us. If you like their group, join them."
It's a way to show the outsiders looking in, who you are.
