Turmobil if you don't like the concept, fine. Just say so. But don't make up silly excuses like: "I think he would hurt his hand striking agaisnt let's say an Unburied."
We're talking about a world where people summon zombie dogs, shoot out flaming bats, slow time, teleport, shoot lightning, cleave whole zombies in two and jump 20+ feet into the air.
Realism plays a very small part in class design. All it comes down to is: Is the class fun and interesting to the majority and is there lore that could back it up.
Xiansai a seemingly asian island could house a eastern style monk easily. Or it would be a more western monk. Who's to say Zakarum didn't have monks that practiced martial arts. There is also this excerpt from the Sin War:
"Tis an old chapel or monk's abode, she said," Romus answered. "Serent' She told us that it was a
sign that we were directed to it. Said it would mark the beginning of a turn for all of us"
So there are apparently some sort of monks in Sanctuary. And that was BEFORE the Zakarum was even thought of.
I just love the idea of the class. Hand to hand, staves, holy, just seems fun to me. Opinions may vary of course.
I've just always liked hand to hand characters. Pounding a demon in the face with your bare fists until it dies just seems more brutal than a sword to me I guess.
please - point me to even a one Monk in the history, that using killing force , and do PvP / PK for fun !
They're just like anyone else, they kill in defense if needed. Of course they're not going to stand and wait to be killed, they will defend themselves. And this is demonic beings, undead, and evil enemies we're talking about not just innocent people.
As for PvP/PK, that's completely irrelevant because it makes no sense to the story of the game for ANY of the classes to be killing one another.
You're taking this way too seriously from real life also. We have a game where people can turn into werewolves, and shoot ice from their hands but one person wouldn't use killing force against demons?
Monks practiced martial arts hours a day their whole life to hone concentration and discipline. How can someone who trains in a martial art all their life not be at least somewhat good at fighting?
Of course they were mostly peaceful, but the main purpose of a Shaolin Monk knowing martial arts was to fight evil and protect themselves and innocents.
So if DEMONS started pouring out of the ground I don't think they'd be hesitant to purge that evil from the world and protect all of humanity.
Also what does a church have to do with anything?
