I just played Heroes V the other day for the first time, and I must say I think it's amazing. The fourth game was a let-down from Heroes III, but V pretty much took everything that was good in the third game, and what was good from the fourth, and put it all together in a masterful combination.
Heroes IV was poorly made. Too many bugs and the maps were badly made. Needed a lot of patches to finish the game.

This was on normal, haven't tried anything harder yet, but I can't imagine this happening in Heroes 3
Actually, whenever I played Heroes III I only used the Hard settings. But I would usually have a harder time winning if I tried at medium. Go figure. I can't imagine the AI to having been constructed so differently.

I wouldn't say it's that bad, I like some of the battle music a lot, but it could have been better, that's for sure. Perhaps some Heroes 3 music might do the trick
Don't get me started. Town songs in HoM&M2 were great. I can remember staying in town intentionally longer so I could hear a bit more. Oh, the battle music in III was the shit. The original CD auto-plays the songs if you place them in a receiver/non computer CD-platyer.

The Barbarian is from Arreat, a very cold snowy mountain top, but they are much tougher than normal humans, so they don't need warmth.

Where are Barbarians originally from? Sumeria, or more specifically Mesopotamia, AKA Europe. Think the Alps and the Pyrenees
goodguy8705@ Disciples > HoMM
Only one series of Disciple kicked Heroes' ass: Rise of the elves.
Disciple II was definetly the hardest non-real-time strategy I've played. Took we a while to finish it. Maybe because I overdo it every time- have to kill everything and find everything. Sounds like a disorder.
They over did it with the whole 22 episodes of Tarnum. Heck, we need a a few other heroes. Lay off a bit. Plated HOM&M V when it got out but lost the dvd. Maybe if I buy the sequels I'll play t again.
I just started playing Masters of Magic again (the '93 original). Boooring...

Can HoM&M 1-3 work on Vista?
