Another thing that I think is interesting is how you put your fingers on the mouse.
I have my index finger on leftclick, middle finger always lying on middle mouse scroll and ring finger for rightclick. Then thumb for.. well thumbbuttons.. I know some people use middle finger for rightclick, not really sure how "normal" I am though. How do you do it?
Yeah I tried your finger positioning and it was really uncomfortable for me.
My mouse's link is in as above post if you're really interested. My thumb is just below my 2 thumb keys, index finger kinda bent (now that I think about it, prolly a mix between fingertip and claw, actually the two combined, but my palm doesn't touch the back end of my mouse), my middle finger almost completely bent and my ring- and pinkie finger holds the mouse fast together with my thumb so I can pick it up.
My wrist always rest on my mousepad and never leave the position, so I lift up my mouse all the time with my fingers when I scroll/browse/game. With the palm grip you use your whole arm to move, which is not nice imo.
Another thing is mouse speed. I think the kind of grip affects your mouse speed or visa versa. I personally use a very slow mouse speed, in Counter-Strike Source it was like 2.0 on a scale of 20 (if you have the game, you must compare!). In CS Source for instance (I just checked), I do a full 360 using the whole length of my mousepad (320mm). I don't know other people's preferences but I can imagine mine's really slow! I just get more accuracy with this combined with Claw&Fingertip grip.
So since reading this thread I've tried the other grips. My goodness the claw grip is horrible! The fingertip grip is bearable but I just can't hack the claw. Maybe its because I have little hands and as a result can't do the claw grip properly.
So you use the Palm Grip? For me, that has to be the most uncomfortable grip in existence!! And my hands doesn't fit on my mouse...
When you (people reading thread, not necessarily you ^^ up there) think of the first time you sat in front of a pc and had to use the mouse&keyboard, do you remember how you first gripped the mouse? I don't think there's anybody here that remembers their first time (no sexual innuendo whatsoever )...unless it was yesterday...or I'm the only one for some reason...
My logic says that 99% of first-time-pc-users probably used the palm grip. It's only instinct that want you to cover the whole mouse with your hand, or am I wrong?
I was born in shooters. High speed shooters and games of reactions, speed and precision. There is no better style than fingertip grip for me. I didn't know or cared how I held my mouse until a while ago when I saw an article about it.
Yeah, I played Counter-Strike 1.5, 1.6 and Condition Zero growing up and even sometimes today, when I'm bored, I go and play a bit of CS Course. Also helps to stay steady and sharp for whenever I play online or LAN with friends.
I have done a lot of research to find the best mouse for my "grip style" and ended up getting the Logitech G9X. I tried the Cooler Master Sentinel and HATED it! I like this mouse as it has decent amount of buttons and fits my grip rather nicely...plus it has different faces you can add to make it more adjustuble to other grips as well. From what I hear, the RAT 7 is very customizable and nice as well....not sure why I posted all this but yeah...fingertip grip for me!
Cool stuff, I actually didn't do much research per se when I bought my stuff (Logitech MK710 cordless), but obviously I did looked at it and thought yeah that might be comfortable.
I'm not into that whole mouse&keyboard with shitloads of buttons thing. I just use the normal stuff. And I don't game as much now, since I'm on university. I am however gonna game plenty when D3 finally releases.
Enkeria's topic about how you destroy your mouse just got me thinking: How do you hold your mouse? Computer mouse that is..courtesy of Ra-Ra-Ra-RazorZone

There's a list of pros/cons for each grip, but I'm not gonna post it here, you can go check it out at Ra-Ra-Ra-RazorZone.
I personally use the Claw Grip. It's mostly used for quick, precise movements. But since you only use your fingertips, your fingers will fatigue at a much faster rate than other grips.
