Never mind then. It's just a detail and I might just as well make an animated gif of a druid standing there, period. Now that I have the gameplay vid, people can see a representation of the character there and don't have to have an overly detailed image for that.
Also, I hold you guys responsible for making me play Diablo 2 again. I peformed just about 5 Hell Diablo runs with various characters today and am seriously considering trying to train a new kickassin only so that I can write a guide on it and not be ashamed of the results (my kickassin did make it to the end of hell but sucks bad.) So that'll be another complete diablo playthrough if the character can make it... And I though I have had enough of the game. Guess not

YES! Oh, so much yes! I got the video!! It's somewhat laggy at times because the recording takes up a lot of memory apparently and the sound desyncs quite a bit as the video progresses but it's done. I tried cleaning up the audio with Virtualdub but it always got stuck about 1/10 into the vid. After like 5 attempts I just gave up and uploaded. It's nothing spectacular, just 15 minutes of gameplay in Hell River of Flame/Chaos Sanctuary but better than nothing. I even got to fight one of the worse bosses for my build (Immune to Cold + Fire) to showcase that Elementalists can deal with it
I'll definitely be making a couple more wiki guides (KickAssin, Summoner Necro) in the near future. I'd still prefer having an animated gif for the character screen, but I might actually get round to making one myself some time soon

You have to use dr. tester, although if you want to have a cyclone armor effect you will have to merge two different .gif animations afterwards. I can try to make one for you tomorrow.
That'd be great  Thanks, guys for all the help!

What you could do is just record the sound separately and then put the sound/video together in like... Windows Movie Maker or something.
Hmmm...clever, devious...I like it! I posted a question on the XFire forums so we'll see if they have something to say for themselves. If not, I'll try it your way, though I'd have to find a good sound recording software (good as in "actually works on my computer" ).

Well at this point it's just a matter of aesthetics, and since it's a singleplayer build it doesn't make much sense to have a gear list. Perhaps inserting a thumbnail image in the large walls of text. Also, having the skill image sitting right in the middle looks awkward. It would be much better if if were to float to the right or left of the page, with text flowing around it. You try figuring that one out yourself first
Also, you can use any image we have in the wiki. A full list of them can be found at Category:Images. We have close to 3,000 though so it may take a while for you to find what you want
I noticed among the images that you have uploaded a character image of an Elemental Druid standing on a black bacground and moving. Could you tell me how you did that? I tried taking several screenshots of my druid with Cyclone Armor around him and then making an animated gif using picasion.com but the image came out really tiny and also the game doesn't allow me to take screenshots often enough for the animation to be fluid. Wish I could make something similar to the Sorceress casting Fireball. Druid in Cyclone Armor casting Molten Boulder would be nice.
Don't do that, that file is uncompressed. It's the only way any program can dump the screen 30 times per second without lagging your machine at the same time. You have to encode it afterwards (you know, DivX, Xvid, MPEG etc.) in order to reduce the file size. For this, Virtualdub is great (and free).
Oh, I see. Then I just need to get the sounds working and I'm ready I guess.

I think I have the coding figured out for the most part, I'm now fighting with the recording software for the video, though I might have to accept that fact that I'll have to pour some money into this. If there is anything style wise that you think could be improved on the page, I'd definitely appreciate your feedback. I guess I'll get more experience from fixing those things myself than having someone do it for me, so if you could just give me some pointers as to what exactly should be worked on, I'll look into it. I have removed the repetitive links as Kickin suggested, scaled down the picture at the bottom (I plan to replace it with a more epic one soon) and replaced the tables with screenshots of my character's stats. I think the text is a little bit chunky but giving a special sub-heading for each stat or item slot seems a little pointless. So except for the missing vid, I'm unsure what more to improve on the page.
As for the formatting in other guides, could you be a bit more specific on what was confusing?
Well, I just struggled with some of the pictures for the most part. I saw the code with the filename but was unsure whether the file was simply to be somehow selected from my computer or I should provide a link for it somewhere and such. Only later on when I was editing the already finished page did I notice the "Upload file" at the bottom of the left sidebar. I also tried making the character table right at the top but didn't have a character picture I could use. So I wasn't sure if I was simply to leave the Image table cell empty or delete it completely. I eventually figured it out though by steal...eh ehm...I mean, using another image I noticed on another druid guide. I hope nobody kicks my butt for that
Also, as far as video programs go, I use FRAPS, ;).
I'm really considering buying that. I spent most of today trying to find a free recording software that would actually work for me without dreadfully slowing down the framerate, capturing 30 second vids in trial version, recording 1/4 of the screen even after setting it up for fullscreen, screwing up the colors or requiring some update on my Windows which then refuses to install for a slew of reasons. So far, only XFire worked quite well, but unfortunately refuses to record sound (also, a 9 minute video I made was 5,5GB large!). So I guess that's a goodbye to free recorders unless I have some luck with the sound on XFire tomorrow. It will take a week to upload that 5GB monster to youtube though

Thanks a lot, Phrozen! I really could use some help with the formatting, all I have managed to "master" so far was inserting a few pictures through links (even though I'd rather display them directly on the screen). I'm used to various html text editors but this is completely new for me.
I have some more editing to do as far as the textual content goes but if you could help me out with e.g. making some tables for the stats/skills it would be awesome. I posted my builds along with some questions about the wiki on my introduction thread but I guess that wasn't the best place to put them. I'll try to find some recording software, because I think adding a video would help people decide whether the build is worth their time, how it plays etc.
I figured I could take a look on the other build pages to see how some stuff is done but I couldn't find any videos there...and also sometimes simply couldn't make heads or tails of some of the formatting. Hope I get better because I'd definitely like to share a few more builds with you people (summoner/magic find necro  ).
EDIT: Never mind, I think I have grasped how this thing works  You can take a look at the Elementalist page now. I have done a lot of rewriting and reorganizing and think it looks much better this time around. Still would like to get a moving picture of my Elementalist druid just standing there with Cyclone Armor swirling around instead of the basic selection screen Druid image but that would just be wishful thinking. I have no idea how to create a moving gif.
EDIT2: Damn, now I even know how to make a moving gif! This build might get a better wiki page than he's actually worth

Hello there everyone. I'm quite new here so apologies if this question has already been asked. Is it possible/allowed to embed videos on a wiki page? You see, I wrote an SP Elementalist Druid build guide (still needs some work) into the wiki and would like to add a short gameplay footage as well but am unsure if it is possible (I'm inexperienced with the wiki's text editor) If it is how to do it? Also, does anybody know of a good free video recording software that would allow me to do so? I wouldn't need more than 5-10 minutes of gameplay footage to record. Thanks a lot.
