There needs to be some anti spam, when you send messages with an interval that is to small for a certain amount of times (it's up to moderators to give numbers what classifies) it should ban you.
There should be chat moderators which have control over the IM, they should be able to hide themselves within the IM's list of active people and can ban people if they violate rules.
These moderators will not have moderation control over the forums. There are enough people here that would not mind helping, if the guy screws up and bans to much or people that did not deserve it the real moderators can simply remove the guy.
All Staff will have Moderative privileges in the Chat. If it gets to the point where we need Chat Mods specifically, then we'll handle it later, :).
The time of ban should be something like 1 hour on the first violation, 24hours on the second violation and a week on the third violation etc.
Violations should also last for a certain amount of time. First violation should last a week, second last a month etc.
Rules will need to be adjusted for this as well, I agree.
Last but not least, colour codes? vB? Html? Also, disabling links in the chat might increase security as well (some people might send viruses, though this issue exists in the forum as well and has not yet been abused.
As far as color codes go, I think we'll be going with one color per User Group. So normal members will have one color, Admins will be red, Mods will be blue, Newsies will be Green, and Wikiers will be Purple. Links are enabled for now, and there will be basic formatting functions, like bold, italics, etc.
Heh... Just give us a vent and we'll be good to go I do like the idea though.
A vent. Oh lawdy.
But yeah, multi-channels would be a good idea, it's something I thought of myself. Perhaps giving the ability would be good, but for now default everyone to one single home DFans channel.
