This is not specifically related to hardcore but an idea that came to me that would be cool to see in game is faster gem leveling. For example the percentage should scale above 100% so that you might get more than one level. That way if you complete a rift level 60 and pick a level 1 gem you might get 2 or 3 levels instead of just 1
Even better idea. Based on your best solo Grift, you get all gems leveled to at least -10 from solo best grift clear.
Lets say you just did solo grift 50. All your gems would be auto raised to 40. That way you can spend more time grinding higher grifts for more upgrades, with no need at all to spend a lot of time doing low grift gem speedruns. You still get 3 upgrade chances to further improve a gem of your choosing. That way dying in HC will be significantly less of a bother, and you will be able to have more spare stuff imbured with gems and ready for action, if you die in HC.
Same goes with SC, maybe gem auto leveling could be -20, to penalize you for being pussy and not playing HC lol.
