Didn't they say that thousand pounder wasn't a boss at all, but only a enemy you would come across now and then? and i believe they also said the siegebreaker assault beast wasn't a boss...maybe not though. He certainly seemed like a boss to me. The way he blows up at the end and all.
That being said, i guess if you consider corpesfire to be a "boss" than maybe thousand pounder can count as one aswell.
Well I think they did say Thousand Pounder wasn't really a boss, but before they went to fight Siegebreaker they said something like "We want to show you now what a REAL boss fight looks like."
I consider corpse fire a boss or mini boss something like that. You have to kill him to complete the quest and at that level he's not impossible but he's not too easy either.
It reminded me of Duriel. I hope at least that that kind of boss would be a major end of level boss. If I'm frequently running into things like that then that's just overkill in my opinion.
It didn't seem like a end level boss to me, more like close to end or mid level.
Like in Act 1 in D2 we had:
Corpsefire
Bloodraven
The Smith
Griswold
The Countess
Andariel
Well the assault beast had better of been a boss of some kind. If I end up fighting monsters that hard every 10 minutes, not going to be all that fun.
Come again?
Talking about a different game or...?

I think in Act 1 of D3 it may be something like:
-
-
-
Thousand Pounder
Siegebreaker Assault Beast
-
Maybe one notch lower. POSSIBLY last boss just seems to lack the depth and intelligence for it though.
