I think this solution will solve the problem of teleport being abused as transport and have a revival as an important part of the strategic gameplay:
-Make teleport bound to a restricted area when used.
-Give teleport a cooldown when it exceeds the area.
-Teleport could increase in area with each level, thereby actually making it useful to use skillpoints in teleport.
Yes, I know. I am brilliant.
Do you mean like a radius around the caster where they can tele?
Well, with the Barb I leapt all throughout ACTS III IV and V
The Sorc and the Teleport.... Mmm... Same. :]
I never used leap much so correct me if im wrong, but the long graphical time it takes to leap compared to teleport sets it somewhat apart. Another big difference is you can't run into a corner and leap to another room that is diagonal. There was a reason you never (or rarely) saw Ileapbaal02, leapbaal-05... Leap=a lot slower (leaving you a lot more vulnerable) and more physical constraints as to where you could leap
So if by same you mean leap is an extreme nerf of teleport then yes...same.
A person who likes only one part of the game, an incorrect, ruining part is not a fan of said game, but a fan of the ruined, incorrect game.
I say ruined an incorrect because:
a) it wasn't in the game originally
it changed the game drastically
And none of this has anything to do with heroes of light, wtf? Don't give me that bullcrap. Sorcerers were given a way too powerful spell, they should have stayed with phasing. But worse, all characters were given that spell... I think you just love DII too much to meet DIII.
Agreed. I know I've gotten a lot of characters to go all the way through hell that never stepped foot in the plains of Act 1, the sands of Act 2, and the jungles of Act 3. Do you think that was intended by Blizzard?
By any chance have you been playing vengeful spirit on DoTA?
Yes and honestly I think there are tons of spells they could borrow from DoTA.

The sorcers offer something special , like none other class - teleporting , - helping other players move trought darkness, and act as a hero to them, make a fun puting nature in offensive - like light, cold and fire againt the demons.
Sorcers was the funniest class in Diablo 2 - The must NOT DIE , becouse for someone is hard to achieve new way of play and levels with teleporting.
The game wasn't only "enhanced" by teleport, it was driven by it. Rushing, baal runs, mf runs were the fastest ways to power and riches. And they all required teleport to be competitive. Therefore anybody that wanted to have power and riches needed teleport.
I didn't like joining games and then having people whine at me to tele to whatever.
Try to imagine D2 without teleport. People would have to actually fight their way to a boss. A character would have to kill monsters to get somewhere. Teleport completely changed the way diablo 2 was played, no other skill did that. 1 skill shouldn't have that much power.
Mages should have swap instead of a teleport. It would be much harder to rush when you have to a) click a monster that you see on your screen (insteaded of clicking blindly beyond a wall) and port into a mess of monsters. This also allows for strategic uses for your party as well. Friend is near death, swap him out or swap out the monster doing the majority of the damage.
So obviously this isn't the best form of survivability although it could certainly help you survive in the right situations, so some other form would probably be needed. Also it would be overpowered in PvP if they didn't implement the right restrictions.
