If the petition reaches 100.000 signatures than it might have some merit to it, otherwise who can say that most of the people didn't voted several times with multiple email addresses and that there aren't some spam bots adding hundreds of signs.
Not to mention that some people vote just out of nostalgia, without properly analyzing the art style and what is the way of improving it.

Diablo 3 is graphically and artistically great, there needs to be variety in the game, instead of only plain and dark areas!
+Wouldn't it be better and more interesting if from a sunny beautiful day, mist starts covering the screen, rain starts falling, thunders and lightning striking and it starts to darken, instead of constant dark!?
If you compare D2 and D3 artistically and graphicly you'll notice there is not much difference and D2 also did have many bright places and 10x more cartoony monsters.
For example look at the fallen, fallen shaman(cartoony red), zombie(cartoonish brownish), skeleton(cartoony yellow and red shoulderpads), wraith(colorful and strong blue), leaper(greeny, rubber looking), maggots(cartoony orange, not realistic), swarm(strong red dots), slinger(redish cartoony), fetish shaman(cartoony and strong green), frog demon (very strong red, cartoony), tenticle (cartoony red-brownish), etc......
D3 is not cartoony at all or compared to D2 its 100x times more realistic.
As far as the outside jungle level we saw in the demo its a bit bright but its clearly a day time, its 20 years from diablo 2 events so evil is not that spread and things have started to come back to normal but you can also see the difference when rain starts to fall, thunder storms and lightning strikes and as the demo goes more it starts to get night time and you see the level darkening a lot.
So instead of going through constant dark, now the mood changes and there is more contrast to show the difference.

yeah and i just wonder how many people signed the petition with their 4-5 email accounts and even some using spam bots to make hundreds of signings.
20.000/4=5000
So overall I'll say not more than 7000 people are unique, but rather same guys signing the petition with different emails.
From those 7000 at least 2000 people just signed it due to nostalgia and ignorance.
I mean i can create a totally absurd petition and with little bit of media and forum coverage I'm sure there will be quite a lot of signings.
Diablo 3 is not nearly enough cartoony or bright as you are representing it to be with some stupid low quality images!
+ go again over D2 and see if its really that dark, you are all forgetting the bright areas - the whole desert area, arreat summit, etc...
Not to mention that monsters like the bugs, spiders, ghosts, witches, etc... were all colorful.
Spells - frost, fire, poison were all 10x times more cartoony than D3 spells. If D2 spells had a realistic tone than elephants can fly!

I don't really get some people. You got fired up from watching few images with low quality and a pre-alpha build of D3, bravo really smart.
And you also must be blind of something if you think D3 is in any way similar to WOW. The difference is so huge even a blind man would see it.
Also did you watch the high quality gameplay demo from diablo3.com official website? -Its not even near to bright and/or cartoony as you are making it to be!
If anything the mood changes depending on what level you are at. I can't imagine someone would like a game where everything is dark. It needs to be varied and different.
So when you go in dungeon its dark, when you go to a jungle its greener, when you go in a desert its more yellowish, when you go to hell its dark and more reddish. I mean its common sense really, if every fucking level is dark then you have not played D1 and D2. Diablo series are not neraly as dark as you are making it to be!

I remember those days. I also remember all the fans going on about how they wanted Inventory Tetris to stay in the game when the question was asked. Look at what happened with the inventory there.
yeah and thats why the game is so stupid because they didn't listen to you.
hah what a joke
if you are so good why don't you apply for a game designer or something, instead of bitching around by only watching a pre-alpha demo build.

I like it how it is but i still voted on "it needs more work" because some of the art style do needs improvement, in a sense that we should never see a rainbow or beautiful flowers in diablo 3.
As far as dark/not dark goes i think this way is great, maybe add just a little bit more darkness when the day goes from sunny to rainy and thunder storms, so that there is a greater impact and people notice it more.
