The dim light of dawn accompanied the chirping of the birds in the early morning when our friends woke up.
Narrator- “Uhm…Turmo is still asleep actually. Somebody prod him with a sharp stick.”
Turmo stirred, mumbled something unintelligible and rolled in the covers. Nacho came and sat on his bed and gently called out his name. As Turmo finally opened his eyes, he noticed the look of concern on Nacho’s face and he immediatley exclaimed-
“What happened?”
Nacho smiled- “Nothing yet. Me, Az and Nekro have discussed about it. We think it is best for you to wait for us here when we go in the caves. It will probably be dangerous and there’s no need to risk your life. Hmm…Nekro bravely volunteered to keep you company here so you’ll not be alone.”
Turmo looking downcast- “I really wish I could help you guys. I know I am not of much use. I am sorry.”
Az- “Hey don’t worry about it. Do not think we are looking down on you because it is not so. We are friends, remember. We’ll come back soon enough anyway, so we’ll be reunited in no time.”
Turmo still looked trouble. He has known these people for mere days but has already become so attached to them. It could be that he was a stranger in a new world and was grateful for some company and help. But he could see that here were some exceptional individuals and knew in his heart that they will not be seeing each other for a long time.
He didn’t know how to say what he felt so he kept it to himself.
The friends took their breakfast together, after which they made their way to the library. It was still quite early and they were wondering whether they would see Atru at such a time. But there he was, a book propped upside down in front of him and his eyes unfocussed and blood-shot.
Nacho called out to him. The Town-master jumped, startled. He looked up towards the friends and they saw the tiredness etched in every line of his face. He obviously hasn’t slept and has probably worried himself sick the whole night.
“He must really care about his people”, thought Az.
Atru however hailed them with a cheerful expression and 10 minutes later they were to be seen walking down the streets of Deeha ‘Blothri, making their way towards the infirmary.
The Town-Master announced them some formidable piece of news while they were walking.
Atru- “After you departed last night, another mage came in after you!!! His name is Emilophion and you must surely know him, Azriel.”
Az- “Yes I do. But that’s incredible luck! He was sent 1 month ago to Curast by leader Hans. He was probably returning from the Eastern city.”
Atru- “Yes indeed. And quite a shock he got too on the road. When he neared the town, he was greeted by phasmatis gathered around the gate!”
Az- “Oh no…”
Atru- “Worry not, he just ran through to the gate and got in. He didn’t even have to fight! It seemed the evil creatures were just as surprised to see him. Good thing he had his wits with him though.”
[spoil]Narrator- That’s an action worthy of Nekro, I would say.
Nekro- Indeed. Pretty nicely done, I would say.[/spoil]
Atru- “I went to see him of course. I told him you were here and of your task of today. He immediately volunteered to come with you. I cannot believe this is just luck. Mother Precel must want us to succeed. I have delayed the mission for 2 hours to allow him to have a proper rest. I daresay things are looking better.”
The daylight allowed the companions to fully appreciate the beauty of the town. All of the architecture was wooden-based. Most of the ancient buildings like the Tavern and the library had intricately carved symbols depicting the balance between man and nature over their woodwork. The houses looked modest and simple yet had the refined touch of certain elegance about them. The streets themselves have remained mostly dirt tracks though sidewalks were present. And here again, timber was used. These as Atru explained came from Infuss trees. Wood taken from this tree has the property to toughen to near rock-consistency once mixed with certain chemicals and was mainly used for outdoor maintenance and construction.
The group reached the infirmary, which was one of the first buildings the skilled hands of townsfolk gave birth to. Chiseled into the wood arching over the entrance was a menacing-looking great bird surrounded my men, women and children. Turmo surprised, silently nudged Az to ask why such a horrible bird was carved into the wood at the entrance.
Az whispered- “Oh that’s the Viaax- a magical bird. Its feathers when brewed into a potion can counter most poisons and heal any injuries. They are very rare and even more difficult to catch.”
The friends proceeded to the room allocated to Zhuge. Upon seeing them, the fellow Moomooer sat up straight in his bed and shouted with glee-
“You made it!!!”
Nacho- “Yes we did, my good Zhuge. I am glad to see you are well.”
Zhuge- “Always so kind, prince. But the truth is that I failed my mission and put your life in danger as a result.”
Nacho- “Pointless to blame yourself friend for here we all are and very much alive. But what happened to you?”
As Nacho was speaking, he couldn’t help notice the large dressing across Zhuge’s chest and right leg. It seemed he was saved just in time.
Zhuge- “As you know we abandoned our outpost at the Gurk forest many years back but the relative peace that seemed to settle over the forest during the last couple of years was meant to deceive us! Phrozen sent me to scout the path to Deeha ‘Blothri. We were not expecting any trouble, the reason only I was sent. But it would seem the time is much graver than we thought. These terrible creatures within the forest are no beast- they are much more fearsome.”
Nacho- “Sir Atru has some hypothesis behind that. We heard you managed to fight some of them off.”
Zhuge- “Yes but there were too many. I was able to hold the wolves at bay but when the bears came, most of my magic had been drained and if it wasn’t for the guards of Deeha ‘Blothri, I wouldn’t be here talking with you all. I wonder how Phrozen is keeping without me to aid him. So many days I have been away and I am the last wiki sys…I mean his trusty second in command.”
Nekro- “Oh don’t worry about that, Huck and Kickin_it have been helping him out.”
Zhuge- “Those bast…I mean oh are they? Usurpin…uhm..helping Phrozen huh?
Nacho- “ Yes they are and they’ve been working very hard too in your absence.”
Zhuge- “I’ll need to return as soon as possible. Phrozen will be needing my help, I just know it.”
Nacho- “Hmm…I see you won’t be able to move until at least one more week. Even then you cannot go through the forest again- it is too dangerous. You’ll have to take the long way, across the Southeastern range to get into Ashnak valley.”
Zhuge- “Yes that would seem the prudent thing to do.”
Nacho- “Well it was good to see you again my friend. Az and me are going with a group to investigate the Kairn caverns. I’ll see you when we return.”
Zhuge- “Yes, Sir Atru has told me of that earlier this morning. You honor our clan with your bravery prince. May Mother Precel bestow her blessings upon you.”
They parted company. Zhuge despite his well wishes looked worried. He felt angry with himself for not being able to help Nacho and tried desperately to convince himself that the guards of Deeha ‘Blothri will ensure the safety of the two mages.
Nacho- “Sir Atru, do you have a blacksmith in Deeha ‘Blothri? I’ll need a sword.”
Atru- “Yes certainly, I’ll show you where. Follow me.”
He brought them to Stonebreaker, the blacksmith. He was a large man with a thick black moustache and a goatee. He had very short hair and rather large ears. Sweat glistened on his face as his massive arm raised a big hammer to beat on the hot red iron. He glanced upward and saw Atru, however he didn’t stop and merely grunted a brief salutation. He was that kind of man- whenever he started working; he was completely devoted to the task. Atru knew of that and asked Stony if they could visit the back store for a sword. The latter grunted again and the company moved inside the workshop to see the weapons.
----------------------------------------End of episode 2-------------------------------------
Emilophion- “ZOMG, I’m in!”
Phrozen- “ Eh…let’s not get sidetracked here. What have you done to Zhuge?” Narrator- “Woah…calm down man. At least he didn’t lose anything…”
Zhuge- “I am fine Phrozen. Just a few injuries. Nothing very life-threatening.”
Shatt- “A shame really.”
Phrozen- “What…?”
Nektu- “Hey yo! These guys are still in Deeha ‘Blothri? Are they ever gonna leave or what? I am still waiting for my Fondue bourguignonne and Tarte flambée!”
Umpa- “How in the world is this food going to last this long? It must surely already have spoiled.”
Nacho- “Of course not! They are wrapped in special leaves capable of preserving them for months.”
Nektu- “I am not worried about that! You better have the thing when you meet me and not have eaten it! I have been waiting for that since the first freaking episode!”
Narrator- “Tempers running high today…must be one of these days…”
Are these guys ever going to enter the Kain caves? Why does this question sound like Nektu is asking it? What weapon will Nacho choose? Will Emilophion wake up in time?
Or is he just going to sleep his ass off?
All of these answers will be revealed in the next episode of Dfans the movie- The Kairn Caves.
Give, expecting nothing thereof. ------------ BoD - Come have some fun! Folks will always come and go, so enjoy them while they're meant to be in your life.
(btw, kind of suitable that you mentioned my sleeping, I happen to sleep 12-13 hours per day during holidays ^^
You ungrateful little slut....
Haha but no seriously, this only introduces you and recognizes the name change. I'll go with Emil in future episodes. Emilophion is too long to write.
Oh the sleeping reference was intentional. My memory of conversations in the URT is better than you think.
Very nice. I would say this is one of the most polished of your episodes. And thats saying a lot because they are all of high quality.

LOL. And what would his cowlyness have to say about that, I wonder? Mayhaps it is already so.
What a very poorly disguised attempt at saying- 'Please include me in the story even if I have to be a gay cat'.
You are lucky though. I am a man of compassion- I'll take your position into consideration(yes this is indeed a Baal reference but said in a less gay way :woot: ).

The time had come. Gathered at the cave’s entrance was the group about to delve into its depth.
Hanging by his side, Nacho had a brand new sword. It had an affinity for fire as was explained by Atru and Stony and could increase the damage of his spells. It was forged using the secret crafts passed down by the generations of blacksmiths of Deeha ‘Blothri who could imbue metals with the properties of fire, ice or poison.
Emil had successfully woken up and joined them. He was currently busy wiping dry his hair.
Narrator- Oh ya I forgot! Az had to do hit him with a water spell in the face in the morning. Mages are so handy…
Nearly all of the townsfolk were present so as wish their fellow guards success and show their gratitude. Among them were Turmo and Nekro with the former looking really miserable and the latter rather relaxed.
Turmo was feeling unusually restless and felt as if an impending doom lay on Nacho and Az who were about to enter the caves.
Just as they about to leave, he instinctively called out to Nacho.
The Moomooer stopped and turned. The two friends looked long at each other and time seemed to stand still. And the next moment Nacho’s arms had wrapped around Turmo, their bodies pressing hard against each other. Their eyes met again and the burning passion that awoke at that very instant could no longer be contained. As their lips…
Umpa, Phrozen, Shatt and the whole cast- ‘WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTT!?!”
Narrator- what what, little bitches? You cannot just barge in the story like that you know.
Seth looking very interested- “So, they are going to make out, eh? Cool…”
Narrator- “Ya well, no actually… I was just having some fun.”
Turmo and Nacho sounding disappointed- “Really?”
Narrator- “Ok guys, fun times are over. Break up there. Let’s get this story going…Where was I…? Oh ya...”
Turmo, Nekro and the villagers watched as Atru muttered some spells and drew a symbol on the ground. The barrier was lifted. A cold wind came out to greet them, itself an unusual happening at a cave entrance.
And without looking back even once, the group plunged forward. They had their torches already lit but the darkness that greeted them seemed to shun the light with its menacing presence so that the torches formed a small illuminated sphere around them. The moss-covered walls of the caves glistened from time to time as an occasional drop of water would form, the result from surrounding humidity, and slide down to disappear through the tiny cracks in the stone. The air though heavy was very cold and faint were the whispers of a distant breeze that would sometimes reach the adventurers.
The guards had their weapons drawn. There stood Jet with his broad sword imbued with cold, Ferret holding a 2-handed sword with poison lining the blade and Elfen carrying a poleaxe having fire properties.
Only 3 guards came as the passage inside the cave was quite narrow. In the event of a battle, more than 6 people would only cause everybody to get into each others’ way.
Emil and Az had their staff held at the ready. Nacho was the only one seemingly composed but the intensity of his eyes spoke otherwise.
The passageway only allowed 3 people to walk abreast. It did seem to broaden further in though they could not see very far while even being so close to the entrance. Nacho, Emil and Jet carried the torches that would guide them in their journey, with the 2 mages and Ferret leading the way, with the rest following close behind.
They walked for 2 long hours with the passage going further underground but now they could definitely feel a slight breeze which however did nothing to make the air less stuffy. Almost all of them could walk comfortably side by side now. The dripping ceiling of the cave which they perceived at the entrance had now vanished. This bothered Nacho as they could not see how high the ceiling was and it could be the darkness playing tricks on him, but he thought he could hear creatures creeping along the walls high above them.
And then all of a sudden the tunnel came to an end. It opened into a wide chamber and there were 2 doors on the other side. The group stopped. But it was not the choice of their future path that brought them to an abrupt halt. At the center of the chamber was a cloaked figure with a cat to his side. The hood was drawn low across his face so they could not distinguish his features. They saw his smile however and in a movement almost too quick to follow, he drew out a piece of a paper from inside his cloak.
A sinister voice echoed across the room as he said-
“I’m Lt.Venom- a demonic dragon, lieutenant of the army of light. I have demonic and necrocan…I mean necraman…DAMN!”
“Let me restart- I’m a demonic dagon…I mean dragon. HELL! Who wrote that down? I can hardly decipher the handwriting on that piece of parchment. Now my intro is all ruined.”
The group just stared, unsure of what to do and who this stranger really was.
Then Emil broke the silence-
“ZOMG! You are a demonic dragon!”
Jet and Elfen- “Oh noes!!!”
Ferret- “Calm down. Can’t you see he’s just a man?”
The stranger threw back his cloak and they saw he was indeed a man. Long red hair with pale gray eyes- he looked very ordinary.
The man spoke again-
“And this is my sphinx!”
Emil- “ZOMG! A sphinx!”
Jet and Elfen- “Oh noes!!!”
Ferret- “Are you guys serious? Can’t you see that’s just a cat?”
Az- “Enough of this fooling around! Who are you stranger? And what are you and your cat doing here?”
Az moved forward as he spoke, dropping his guard and seeing nothing in the situation except a wanderer with his pet. It was an unusual mistake on his behalf- he felt reckless and impatient at that very moment.
As the Wolianer broke away from the group, the stranger quickly crouched- almost completely to the ground- as a great scaly black tail rose behind him. The dart at the end dripped with green poison.
The attack was swift and aimed with deadly precision. Az would have died had it not been for Emil who reacted fast enough to deflect the blow with a thrust of his long staff. But it was not enough. Az lay on the ground with a gaping hole in his right arm.
Venom moving forwards- “One down- 5 more to go.”
But Nacho had summoned a great wall of fire between them, causing the half-man half-scorpion creature to leap back and yell in fury-
“He will die! If my blow wasn’t deflected, it would have been a painless death. Now the poison will spread through his body and will slowly torture him to his last breath.”
Venom could not advance but he simply laughed. The fire barrier will not last indefinitely and he watched with wicked pleasure as our friends were frantically trying to revive Azriel.
Nacho came to a decision. The poison was magical in nature and he could feel and he rested his hands on his friend’s injury that it had not yet started spreading. He whispered a spell and soon his hand glowed bright red. He pressed his enchanted palm onto the wound and closed his fingers around tightly. Az woke up and screamed in agony as his flesh started burning. The guards and Emil watched in horror as the water mage struggled and writhed while Nacho held on firmly. Then after a full minute of pain and tears, the Moomooer let go and Az sank back into being unconscious, his breathing ragged and heavy from the recent trauma.
Nacho has burned off all the infected tissues and cells and prevented the poison from spreading but his friend has lost a lot of blood and he was going into shock. He called out to Emil and Elfen and asked them to take the injured mage back to town's safety and healers. They understood the gravity of the situation and delayed not a moment as the tall guard hoisted Az onto his shoulders and went galloping towards the entrance. As Emil rushed to accompany the guard, Nacho whispered to him-
“Shall we not return, will you do me a favor? Could you take the man called Turmo to the city of Curast? I'll be forever in your debt if you do.”
Emil nodded and left.
The wall of fire faded to tiny flames and there stood Venom calmly talking his cat and he was telling the animal-
“You are quite the useful thing are you? But I reckon I would have managed just fine on my own.”
“Oh look- the crisis meeting is over. Shall we get this going then?”
-----------------------------------End of episode 3-----------------------------------------
Narrator- “Looks like all hell broke loose.”
Umpa- “They need me!”
Shatt- “This is entertaining. I hope the guy dies…uh… I mean to maintain realism and all, you know.”
Jet- “Oh noes. Will he die?”
Scyber- “This looks bad. What is going to happen?”
Phrozen- “Come on guys! You can take him on. He’s only one gu..I mean thing!”
Venom- “You forgot about my sphinx.”
Cat- “Ya, you forgot about me.”
Nektu- “Hey wait…you can talk!?!”
What is going to happen? Who or what is that cat?
Does it/he/she only talk in after episode chats? Is Venom just an overconfident bastard?
Is he going to get his ass handed to him?
All of these answers shall be revealed in the next episode of dfans the movie: Battle of the Kairn caves.

Oh ya...”
